Koni Yellow drag strip settings

Need a bit of advice here. I am heading to the drag strip tomorrow and am trying to determine what would be ideal settings for my Koni yellows.

Part of me says I should keep them soft for weight transfer but another part of me says I should keep them on the firm side in the rear to keep the rear axle planted.

Thoughts?

I would start full soft front, full stiff rear and adjust from there.

Thanks guys. I tried anywhere from full soft to full stiff in the rear. I think full soft ended up being the best (1.93 & 1.94 60's vs 1.97-1.98 at full stiff). But the real problem is street tires. Such a waste of time.

I had a best of 12.56 @ 113. DA was about 1400-1500 so all things considered that's OK. I'll be back in the fall with ET Streets.

I might do something with these 3.73s as well. Thinking 3.55 as a compromise.

Interesting. I was thinking full stiff in the rear would lead to wheel hop. But I understand full soft in the front helps weight transfer.

It did feel like the 1-2 shift was a little more on the hoppy side with the rears at full stiff. It was a frustrating day regardless of how I set the shocks. I ran 12.56-12.61 all day. At least I'm consistent.

Call me bored, but I did a little comparison to my last outing when I was bone stock. DA on that day was very low, around 0-100.

10/22/10

Best 1/8 ET 8.369, std. deviation .064 seconds (11 runs)
Best 1/4 ET 12.87, std. deviation .085 seconds (11 runs)

3/23/12 - CORRECTED

Best 1/8 ET 8.221, std. deviation .032 seconds (12 runs)
Best 1/4 ET 12.562, std. deviation .044 (12 runs)

3/23/12 - CORRECTED (using 1400 DA factor, multiply ET by .9848)

Best 1/4 ET 12.37, std. deviation .043 seconds (12 runs)

Looking at uncorrected times, I improved my best 1/8 ET by .148 seconds. I increased my best 1/8 MPH by 3.63 MPH.

I improved my best 1/4 ET by .308 seconds and increased my best 1/4 MPH by 2.7 MPH.

I improved my best CORRECTED 1/4 ET by .498 seconds and my best CORRECTED 1/4 MPH by 4.15 mph.

These gains seem to be consistent with what you'd expect when the only power mod is a Steeda CAI + Tune. The slight improvement in the 1/8 ET is telling me that I really need to improve my traction situation if I want to bring my times down.

Here are the full uncorrected best runs from my two previous visits:

10/22/10 - Stock
60' 2.017
330' 5.519
1/8 8.369
MPH 84.29
1000' 10.824
1/4 12.87
MPH 110.31

03/23/12
60' 1.993
330' 5.456
1/8 8.221
MPH 89.15
1000 10.585
1/4 12.562 (12.371 corrected)
MPH 112.73 (114.49 corrected)

Any thoughts? I'm happy that I'm fairly consistent.
