Boss 302/Laguna Seca rear sway bar information for GTs
A member on AFM posted some information on swapping out his RSB on his Brembo GT with a slightly larger Boss 302 bar. He also provided spring rates for the cars and the roll rates for the bars. I wanted to post the information over here after I did some investigation and found the correct Ford part numbers for said items.
CR3Z-5A772-A: GT RSB $160.57
CR3Z-5A772-D: Boss 302 RSB $201.72
CR3Z-5A772-E: Laguna RSB $203.82
Quoted from AFM:
24mm weight 15.7 lbs - roll rate 584.0 Nm/deg.
25mm weight 17.1 lbs - roll rate 686.9 Nm/deg.
Increase in weight = 8.9%
increase in roll rate = 17.6%
Spring rates in lbs / in. - best info i can find.
Stock GT 136 front / 142 rear (245 tires all around)
Brembo pkg 131 Front / 167 Rear (255 tires all around)
Boss 302 148 Front / 186 Rear (255 front 285 std. compound rear)
Boss 302 Laguna Seca 137 Front / 191 Rear (255 front 285 rear tire, corsa compound)
Steeda Sport 200 Front / 175 Rear.. - future = 275 front 305 rear.
Thoughts? i could have put the 26mm Laguna rear stabar on but i wanted to see what this 25 did first. I believe Sam Strano actaully pegs the back as already too stiff and that a smaller rear bar is in order (22mm - v6 bar). But i think his 34mm front bar has greater rate due to increased wall, and he gets rid of the bonded front bushings. Hmmm maybe something to do with the steeda 'flat' stance vs. the Ford jacked up in back stance.
