Question 285/40R18 VS 285/35R18 square setup

Hi Guys,
To fit to 18x10 wheels for a squared setup for best handling with good looks and not rub issues, what do you think it will be a better fit: 285/35R18 or 285/35R18 square set ups? Why?

Having had run the 275-40-18 setup on the '05 and now running 275-35-18 on the '07 have to say lower profile for more aggressive cornering. the first rubbed only at full wheel lock, otherwise no issues.

From what I read on your replies, basically the 285/40 will be for good looks and the 285/35 for better handling.

Go with less sidewall, it's the difference of maybe an inch probably with the 40 and the handling is better with the 35.

Yes I think that for track usage the 285/35R18 mounted on 18X10 wheels will be the best choice. Still I will keep my 275/40R19 for daily driving. Thanks Guys, for all your comments.

With 3.73's I would opt for the 40 profile for a bit more speed in each gear. In my opinion the 3.73's generally a bit too short for road courses. I think 3.55's are perfectly suited, too bad they were not an option with the track pack

I have run 40 profile tires and 45 profile tires and there is not much difference unless you are on a race ready suspension. The Koni and steeda setup you have should do well and I would be impressed if you noticed a difference between 35 and 40 profile tires.

Yes DMichaels, I think you made a strong point. For my DD that it was the reason I went with 275/40R19, instead of 35's, I heard many comments on Mustang forums that 1st. shift was useless with the combination of 3.73 gears & 35's profile tires.
I did not choose the 3.73, it came with the car. Like you say, probably the 3.55 or the stock gear should be better for the track.
