With a stock airbox, I don't see an issue. Looking at John's car, it looked like the corner (and maybe a bit more) of the heat shield could collect water. A simple solution (which might already be there) would be to add a drain hole (or several) at the bottom of the shield box. Any standing water would drain out. The filter itself appeared to be unexposed.

Yes, I will use the wire mesh again. Any relieved (ie: cutout) portions of the grill will be mesh. Gotta keep bugs, rocks and rubber-boogers out of there, so mesh (of some sort) is a requirement!

I'm thinking about using just the wire mesh like the FR500S cars at MMP.

Any idea where they source that? Wonder if they have it in a coated black?

FRPP Part # is or was M-8200-A Front Grille - No Badge @ $559.00 MSRP, or $500.00 through MMP (during the Mustang Challenge years).

If you enter the number @ FRPP online now, it doesn't come up as a valid number.

Get copper, it'll develop that nice patina over time:

Finally got some video that edited without choppiness. Session 1 on Sunday morning, Group 2. They made me go out first... so a real clear look at Motorsports Park Hastings from the dash of a 2012 Boss 302 running a square (18x9.5) setup with 285x35 Hankook RS-3s and Vorshlag camber plates

Enjoy

Good stuff John! Way to lead the fleet in the CO! I like the way you short shift 3-4 right before the apex at 7. I've been experimenting and there's not a great place before, at or after that apex, but I think where you were hitting it is the best option. If you look at the power band on the dyno charts I've seen, I think you're still in the sweet spot even shifting at 6-6500 there. You take a different line through 9/10 and 12 than I do. I think I'll experiment with those this Saturday when I go back down there for my last track day of the year.

John,
Great video! But I lost interest at the 12:30 minute mark, because you passed me.
I'll have to spend more time watching your video to pick up some ideas.

Gary, another trip to Hastings?!? Saw your car there last weekend, but you split before we met. Second rain out at Hastings for me this year; I saw you had the R6s on and figured that was the reason for the early departure.

The stupid thing is, I left the keys for my trailer locks at home, so couldn't even unhook the thing (without bolt cutters, at least, and would have done that if it'd been dry).

Any idea what weekend the Mustang roundup will be next year? NASA RM has a September date at PPIR, the 22nd/23rd. Hoping it won't interfere.

I know I'm addicted Yea I saw yours too as I was leaving, but just never had the chance to get over to meet you! I looked around for you Saturday morning but couldn't find you so sorry about that. Yea I wasn't going to run in the rain on R6s and the forecast looked like it wasn't going to let up through Sunday. George did tell me they got a couple dry sessions Saturday afternoon before the rain started again and continued through Sunday.

I started another thread on next year's roundup here:

On the plus side... it took 12:30 to catch you in an 18-20 minute session

My intent was really just to let people see MPH... not use the lines I was running. I'll admit, I was working the car harder than I should have to run 'the line'... which, after watching the video... was my M3 line from last year. The vid is nice and clear though, so you should at least be able to learn from my mistakes

I have another video shot from the roof which was better, but I can't get it to edit without going choppy on me

Ugh, thought so, same weekend. Maybe NASA RM will change their date between now and then...

Ahh, totally makes sense. Yea my line in the Boss is different than my fat pig GT500 too. You might try running 9/10 deeper to the exit curbing/cone, letting all that extra weight carry you out there and then firing up the inside clipping the apex on the left exiting 10. That way you're not fighting to get back to the left at 11. You take 9/10 pretty shallow which is shorter, and maybe faster, but I've found my exit speed is much greater taking it deep. Would be nice to have a timing system with splits to actually measure that corner to know what line is faster in the Boss. My lap timer just does full laps. I do find that when I'm closing on someone in that corner, I lose a little ground when they take it shallow, but by the time I exit 10 I'm all over them.

Gary.....time to run other tracks.....

I think the new traqmate system allows to look at split timing. I think the program on my phone does too.....android.

You mean like BIR (8 days this year) or MAM (3 days)? How about RA....heading there next June. I'm also going to try and get back to Autobahn. The problem is this time of year BIR and RA are too COLD! Gotta go South to MPH
