Where is the extra weight coming from?
Despite non-power seats, aluminum wheels, no sound deadening and presumably no options, the Boss still weighs 30 pounds more than a GT. Where is that weight coming from?

Exhaust side pipes, the finned diff cover, the added front splitter, the larger radiator, the oil cooler, the extra baffles in the oil pan, probably the stiffer anti-roll bars, possibly the adjustable shocks.

This plus the "side pipes" are the major weight adders that I can see. If I had to warrant a guess, I'd say the wider wheels and tires are responsible for about 20 lbs of the added weight (5 lbs per corner) and the side pipes for the remaining ten pounds (5 lbs per side). The wheels and tires could be even heavier than my guess though, which would offset some of the missing sound deadener.

The brakes, wheels, tires and exhaust are most of it. Even though it doesn't have power seats or the additional options, all the wiring is likely still there which is common practice in today's vehicles, and that is a lot of the weight. For example, you bought a new Mustang without heated seats, the wiring would likely still be under the carpet. At least that's the way it was for my BMW's...it's easier and cheaper for the manufacturer to just have a single wiring harness, than to individualize based on content.
