What options would you like for the new Boss 302?
I have to disagree with part of this. The Boss is a limited edition street car that people will paying hard earned money for and parking in public places. If nothing else, the security package needs to at least be an option, if not standard. I don't think anyone would want their Boss to get stolen and lots of people don't want to mess with the factory wiring by having an aftermarket security system installed.
That makes sense. Sorry if I came off a little misunderstanding. I reread my post and realized my mistake. we are in fact in 2010 and should have more options. Sorry.
I completely agree and wish they would have offered GB and BLK as colors but sadly they didn't. Hell for that matter GO should have made a return. However we do not know what 2013 will bring. For all we know they will continue the Boss.
I would love to have a numbered plaque kinda like the GT500s had.

I hope if you're buying one, please don't drive it on the street.
It's a street car. $5 says it's going to have a radio in it. So who cares if it's the EP or the Shaker? You want HID headlamps, a security system and silver wheels, all not necessary for a race car either.
It's my money, the thread title is "What options would you like for the new Boss 302?"

Yes, the Boss is a street car but it is really a thinly disguised race car. As I said in my prior post, if you want lots of creature comforts on your Mustang, buy the GT because you aren't going to be able to get NAV on the Boss.

A "race car" would have crank windows, no air conditioning, no radio. All represent weight savings.
Obviously, it will have power windows, a/c and a radio.
Once you put a radio in, ANY RADIO IN, there is no substantial difference in weight OR the car's performance if it had the Shaker 500 or the EP.
Which cancels out the supposition that "if you want the creature comforts get a GT" theory.
It's the "hair shirt martyr" rule, debunked. {Priests in ancient times would wear uncomfortable hair shirts to prove their "devotion" to God by suffering.} If it doesn't impact performance in any way, there's no reason to not offer it. Glass roof, I can understand. Stick-on side and hood scoops, I can understand. Even leather seating, I can understand. The radio doesn't amount to a hill of beans.
If I it's available when I order, I would order with EP, security package and HIDs as well. Those are the few options I want.
Remember, it's not about you. It's about me. lol
You maybe missed the point.

Here is a pic of the base radio:

According to "groot", a Ford suspension engineer who used to be on this forum, the GR only adds about 25 pounds. Probably less than the "quad" exhaust which is cool, but not necessary.
I can understand how it might conflict with at least the perception of the intended "mission" for the car, though. But I'm hopelessly addicted to the glass roof so I guess it's no Boss for me.
Guess I'll keep saving my pennies for the 50th, which better have a glass roof!

No, I understood the point. I was simply saying that the Boss is essentially a streetable race car that in most cases will spend a majority of its time on the street and because of that, most people are going to want a security system of some kind to protect it. For example, when the car is parked in parking lots or in driveways over night. I know I'd want some measure of security protecting the car when it's unattended.
Everyone's making such a big deal about how the Boss 302 is supposed to be a "Race Car" but that's what the Laguna Seca model is for, The regular Boss 302 is for the street as was the original.
The original Boss 302 was not a Race Car, it was a street version of the race car that Ford built to homologate the 302 engine.
I understand making certain structural options unavailable like the Glass Roof but certainly a decent stereo should be available. Individuals that are that serious about this being a Race Car should go right to the Laguna Seca model!

The Laguna Seca appears to be only slightly revised from the BOSS (wheels, tires, rear bar and springs, shock valving, two aero pieces, cross brace and rear seat, gauges). It isn't (in my opinion) a radical departure from the BOSS.

I can understand Ford not offering all the various options that other models might have available. But it seems odd that a decent stereo system would not be offered? Ford is going to build around 7000 of these cars and while "we" (Mustang crazies) might be drooling like fools about the Boss 302 the simple fact remains the vast majority of people who will be buying Mustangs want certain options available. Ford wants these cars to sell and I don't think they can rely on just "us" to be buying these cars.
There is a fair amount of interest on these forums surrounding the Boss 302, but honestly- how many forum members are buying one? Percentage wise I don't think it's very high. Of those that seem interested in buying one there is a fair percentage that would like a decent sound system and a security system. The LS model is really for the track and is street legal enough that people can drive it to the track. The street version of the Boss is going to be something people are driving in daily. Surely Ford is smart enough to know they need to meet the needs of a DD buyer?
I think there are much more than 300 people interested in getting a streetable track car. Remember demand has been building up for 30+ years.

But one thing is for certain there are FAR MORE people interested in a "street" Boss 302 and I think Ford would be stupid to just shut the door on them and not offer any options. If someone wants just a base radio then that's how you order it. If someone wants an upgraded radio I think Ford should provide that too.
This might not mean anything but it's something to consider.....Ford has said the Boss 302 will be available in Canada. I'm in Canada and I too thought the Shaker 500 WAS the base radio. Why? Because in Canada the Shaker 500 IS the base radio. All the Mustangs that are built for Canada come with certain options as standard equipment. Why? It's because Ford needs to make a little more profit on cars sold in Canada due to our smaller population. So we aren't getting these options for free, the price is built into the MSRP of the car.
So I suspect this might hold true of the Boss 302 as well.
Perhaps there are and perhaps Ford will make more than 300 of the LS. We'll know more in a few weeks or months.

The Canadian BOSS will get the same as the US BOSS
Here's a new one for you. I would love it if they would offer to give the cars their "Show car" paint treatment, where the bottom of the car also gets clear coated. That would make cleaning the chassis a bit easier and could also help a bit with durability too.
