Tranny seal replacement

Got my GHIG Boss in October, and trackeyed last month. Sittin at 960 miles. Noticed some oil on the floor in the garage. And it appears that the local SVT dealer is going to replace a tranny seal under warranty already! I also have a flashing engine light at times when the engine is cold out of the garage. The thing lurches a bit through first. Ford is looking into it. Every Ford I have owned has issues! Anybody else see this????

Hello ninjacrooks,

Glad to learn you already have your dealer looking into this for you. I’d also like to get it escalated to the customer service manager for your area so we can help. Please, PM me with your dealer, mileage, VIN, full name, and best daytime number.

Thanks Deysha! Will do when I get home. Also, update: they called to ask if the shifter ball was aftermarket because they couldn't get it off and wanted the instructions when I told the guy it was stock he said "****, I told my buddy that if the crusty says its stock I would punch him in the face" haha. Beatins Comin!

Ford uses thread locker on the Boss shifter *****. He' needs a strap wrench or he'll be ordering you a new shifter ball (ask me how I know).

Strap wrench and a heat gun/hair dryer. GL with your repairs. What % does your oil life meter read? (Just curious with the low miles)

Just got it back, they replaced the main seal and an o ring for a sensor that has "been known to rattle" and cause a blinking engine light. Report showed misfires. Appears to be back in order, though the shift boot doesn't look the same. Anyone wanna snap a quick pick of theirs for comparison?

I just checked and it says 52%. Sounds ridiculous

Not sure if you got the check engine light straightened out yet, but I had the same issue. I took it to the dealer and they had to perform a reflash of the ECU as per the Ford engineering team which built the Boss. That took care of the problem for me. I was initially concerned that the reflash would mess up the track key, but the car has been great the past few months. I haven't had any leaks though, so I can't comment on the trans seal. I do however have to put a new clutch in after only 6k miles... Mine was never right from day 1, which the dealer argued with me about. Anyway, I use another dealer which I've had much better luck with now. Hope everything turns out well for you!

This just proves that the algorithm that the OLM uses also uses age as a factor in the equation, not just miles and throttle data. Thx for checking.
