275's fit pretty well on 9.5 rims, 285's are perfect. A half inch won't matter if it's only for the street. I have 255's on 9.5x18 on the front and they fit, but I wouldn't track them. Too many variables, they are slightly stretched but nothing to be concerned about. I've read about others using 275 as a square setup with no rubbing up front front. Can't always trust what you read.

265/30 and 305/30 is gonna be a height difference. Might mess with the abs or traction system but not sure. 265/35 would be a closer match to height. The 265 and 305 is not the actual width. Unless you want taller back tires.

A 285 on a 9.5" rim also offers better protection for the rim as the aesthetically pleasing bulge provides a decent barrier before the rim comes/into contact with something.
@ Al, I'm running a 255/45R18 in combination with a 305/45R18 drag radial right now with a coupla thousand miles/on the clock with no Ill effect.

IIRC it used to be that the tires had to be within 4% of each other to eliminate issues with ABS and TCS and its interesting to note with my programer that it only asks for the rear tire OD (expressed in revs per mile) rather than both the front and rear tire ODs.

I ran 645 mm tall front and 680 mm tall rear slicks at Pocono and Lime Rock and was worried if the different diameters would cause issues. Surprised pleasantly that there were none and both ABS and TC functioned properly in normal, sport and off modes.
