Well it's not silly at all. I understand dealer loyalty, but conversely your dealer should understand if you go somewhere else since they didn't receive an allocation. I am pretty certain the lottery has been complete for some time now for the 2012s. There is a chance they could get a 2013, but that is at least a year out.
Deposit placed on 11/19/10 for a Kona Blue with accessory package but no Recaro's/diff at MSRP. Supposed to be first quarter build but no VIN production week from my dealer yet. Am I the only guy not to order Recaro's?
That might be possible, however I suspect it would take dealer trading a GT500 to possibly make it happen. Have you contacted other dealers in the general vicinity to see if they have allocation for one?
If I was tracking the car regularly, I would have gotten that option. He also said it was because the weight of the toolbar and the effect of hitting racing curbs along the track. That is a more demanding situation than at Autocross, which where I primarily would use it.

Technically they don't mention selling the LS at sticker. I have a call into them and they are suppose to get back to me. The Mustang guru isn't in right now so the salesman is suppose to give me a call back. He thought they were asking $5K over but wasn't sure. He thought they had 2 allocations but wasn't sure if they were spoken for.
edit - Just looked at their ad again and they took all reference of the LS off of it. This morning they mentioned the LS color and now that has been removed.

Respectfully, you are misled. Autocross is "demanding" and will generate compariable friction (heat) in the diff. Torsen is preferred over clutch-type diffs in Autocross for several reasons, one of which is disc wear. Research some of the Autocross forum threads related to "repacking" (rebuilding) the factory limited slip every 2-3 events in Stock classes (competitively speaking).

Yes, you are correct, at an aggressive level of usage over a season, I would assume this to be the case. For the recreational autocrosser like myself (2-3 events in a season), I do not expect this to be a problem. For reference, I won the class in my area SCCA way back in the day (1998) in an SN-95 Mustang (1996 Cobra) in F Stock, even on stock tires and no cambered out front struts.
Thanks for the clarification on my comments. The Torsen is definitely a great option!
out of about 25-30 dealerships only two have an LS, one said
other one hasn't gotten back to me yet after I asked price.
We've had offers of many different levels from $5,000 over to $35,000 over, which is why we won't sell it until we have the market more figured out.
