Special instructions for pick up
LOL, you and I always
(but in a good way). I don't mean this in a bad way but prove me wrong and show me where it says the car MUST be test driven, as I have never seen it. Then if that is the case what are the parameters of the test drive, side street? Do you need to get it to highway speed? Does it have to be driven in the rain and snow? (long trip from here) How many miles must they drive? What RPM's must be achieved? Does someone test drive all fleet sales at the dealer end? so-on and so-on. Where does it end, most likely never and that is why I have yet to see it in writing.
Some people are stating as fact a test drive must be done because (I) people would sue if something was wrong. Then there must be a stringent set of guidelines (written by Lawyers) to follow. Because if I am so going to sue I can dam well sue when the wheel falls off my car and come to find out the tech only went 35MPH and not 65 for 23.75 miles of open highway.
My only problem with this thread is people are saying they know for sure but provide no proof - so again please show me
Understood, I got the same but paid for it in a dealer fee. However this is normally done by the sales people. It is not a part of PDI.

Op. I'm only making light of your obvious **** list of demands. Thanks PACETTER for the PDI breakdown. Lighten up a bit man. We know you are proud of your ride and a little protective of it. Let the guy drive it. It won't blow up. Liability is a big issue. I've dealt with customers like this in the past and it's a mental thing you will get over as soon as you take delivery of it. Mistakes are made at the factory all of the time. The reason PDI's are required. Lighten up and enjoy your ride.

I took the PDI form with me to the dealer and marked off all of the items I wanted them to do and the ones I did not want them to do. I looked over the very techical and detailed Road Test insturctions and decided that I posessed all of the necessary specialized equipment to be able to complete these test. (ie. eyes and ears) So I decided to complete that section by myself. I did have them complete all of section 1 and 2 though.

Dang, its like I called ya'll's baby ugly! Why are you getting pissed at me because I wanted to check my car out myself? I didn't realize I was doing something to upset you. I can only assume that you are all PDI techs and I am insulting your profession. I don't know that they would have done anything bad to the car but I don't know that they wouldn't. My 2 biggest concerns were that they would install the front license bracket since that is number 3 on the PDI list and that they would put swirls in the paint when they washed it. I also know that even when they have been asked not to, sometimes once the person you talked to hands the car over to someone else, things get done that weren't supposed to get done. How many times have we heard, just on this board, about people that went to pick up their Boss and the front license plate had been installed even though they had asked for it not to be. Also, nothing looks better than a really clean well kept black car and nothing looks worse than a dirty, poorly kept black car.
Maybe I am ****, but I ordered the car almost a year ago and I didn't want it screwed up before I even got to it.
I hope that however you guys decide to go through the delivery of the next car you purchase, whatever that may be, that everything goes well and you get the car exactly as you want it.
AlsCobra, I have already picked up the car so I don't know who you are hoping will do burnouts. Also, maybe you need to start eating in some better restaurants.
Trent, I have been married to the same woman for 24 years and I don't have too many complaints about her cooking or anything else for that matter. I'm not sure how long you have been in Texas but most men here know better than to start insulting a man's wife or their cooking unless they know that fella real well. I'll just assume you are new here and also make sure not to order up any steaks from you so I won't feel inclined to comment on your cooking, unless of course your alias refers to some driving accidents you've had.

. I wasn't looking to make a big scene. Apology for getting you all worked up

The internet can be a messed up place. I tend to let most of it go by.
(After playing xbox live for a year its hard to take anything online seriously)
Trent, I was probably a little harsh in my reply also. Just coming back from posting what I thought was a simple reply about people stating that you couldn't do your own road test and I had 3 people bashing me personally.
Don't sweat it man. It was just pretty funny to see your list of demands. It definitely deserved a little heat. I understand your feelings but I used to do PDI's when I was at the dealer. The only one that left without anyone driving it was an 02 Trans Am. One of the last special edition yellow ones. Literally came off the transport and was loaded into an inclosed trailer. Some private collector from out of state. I believe that he may have signed a waiver so we wouldn't be liable for any delivery damage or defects once he pulled the plastic off.
