its an air compressor, with fix-a-flat stuff inside. it only shows where the hole is, it doesn't fix anything. I know this because I got to use mine within the 1st 150 miles of owning my Boss. get an old school tire repair kit and put that in the trunk with it.

Here's a spare tire thread if you're interested:

I've been searching for a good spare option. I don't like the description of the spacer thingy on this one - seems like it could be a problem on the roadside especially if it was dark or the weather was bad. I'm still looking.

I like road trips and don't like tire slime so need a spare.

Are you saying that the stock tire/wheel fits? How much does it stick up above the top of the tub?

I use a 2007 GT500 wheel and tire, 18 x 9.5

It fits perfectly in the wheel well, and sticks up about an inch, but then you have the carpet covering it, so it really doesnt show.

I bought a jack on SVTPerformance, and took the bolt holding down the air compressor, and had it lengthened about 3 inches, to now clear thru the jack and spare, and use the round washer and wing nut on top.

If it sticks up an inch, how is that perfection?
So I take it the cover board isn't flush with the trunk floor.

Is there a narrower wheel/tire combination that will both clear the brakes and fit flush in the wheel well instead of sticking up?

It's an air compressor, but where did people get this idea that there's fix-a-flat stuff inside it?

I've used it to pump up a tire after I plugged it, and when I had the tire removed later on there was no slime inside the tire

It's just an air compressor.

Correct. If you're now looking down into the trunk, the only thing that gives it away is the left side and right side of the carpet drops off where the cover board ends.

Somebody told me that there are 2 different hoses, one that distributes the "slime"
I've used my pump a couple of times and I don't remember seeing that second hose, but I know for sure that at least 1 of the hoses (if there are 2) distributes air only.

The problem is what fits in the well does not clear the brembo calipers up front. So either you live with the possibility of needing to change two tires or the spare sitting a bit high.

There is a thread somewhere referencing a thread on another forum detailing what to get from discount tire. It's an 18" Drag (brand name) wheel and the cheapest narrowest tire they carry that fits on the rim. I went that route. I put the wheel on to make sure it fit properly over the brembo caliper and then removed it. It's not a full size spare, but being a real wheel and tire it is light years better than a mini spare or fix a flat.

One other option is that if you have a rear wheel that will fix on the front over the Brenbos. You carry a tire and wheel that fits the smaller rear calipers, most do. Then if you have a flat in the rear, simply swap the spare in. If the flat is in the front, swap a srear to the front and put the spare on the rear. A bit more work along side the road assuming the flat in on the front but could be a lot cheaper.
