So what deal did you make to get your Boss?
No, I don't mean the negotiation with the dealership. I mean what did you have to promise in exchange with your spouse? The thought occurred to me today when I was thinking about what I had to do to get my wife 100% behind my desire to get a new Boss Mustang...
Sure she had agreed 'in principal' to me getting a new car once we could afford it by saving up the down payment. But that line about when we can afford it concerned me. One of the key factors in saving the funds is going to be her working OT when it becomes available at her job. And knowing what motivates her, I said that we could get another cat after I get my new ride. All in all, I thought it a pretty fair trade.
Could I have got what I wanted eventually without having to deal with yet another friggin' cat in the house? Probably, but I have to say, my wife has a strange gift for making things happen and getting what she wants. After all, she's the one with the new GT, a great job, and a husband with great taste.
So for those of you lucky enough to already have your new rides, what's your story? And those like me, who are still not quite ready to get yours, what did you do? Work OT or even 2 jobs? Make some other sacrifice? I hope this thread gets some interesting replies.

My wife grew up driving around in her parents original owner 1966 Mustang, the same car she took her first driving test in. I let her pick the color (same color I wanted) and it was a done deal. I do have to let her drive it to work one day though.
My wife didn't want me to sell the Super Snake but once she saw the Boss LS she feel in love with it. One ride in it and she had forgotten all about the Super Snake ( the car, not mine
)
She's never questioned any car purchase I make.

My wife doesnt give a hoot about cars, I dont think she could possibly care less. We are very fortunate financially so didnt have to make any sacrifices to get the Boss. But she asked me to sell my 04 F150 and 90 Jeep Wrangler. I did both and have no regrets. She really didnt get anything out if the deal apart from me acting like I'm 19 again (of course she is thrilled with that)
I traded in my 2011 Fiesta that I bought last year with money from selling some of my Ford stock. When I decided that I wanted a new Boss, I was annoyed by my local Ford dealers for wanting a "market adjustment fee" on the Boss. I took a 55 mile trip and bought a new Boss off the dealer's showroom floor for MSRP. On top of that they gave me a really good deal on my Fiesta.
My GF of ten years really could care less about cars, but enjoys seeing me happy and knows that cars, cruise nights, shows, swap meets, etc do that for me.
I offered to sell the Marauder, but she said that is her favorite of all my cars and trucks. So it looks like seven vehicles in the garage it is (including her Focus) !!!

Dont own a boss but Great thread anyways. I went 5 years without a sports car. And complained about it the whole time. Always had a fun ride before. Finally was to the point where I was able to get what I wanted and she was ok with it. Now she hates it and that makes me smile a bit.
On another note: before we got married, a 96 impala SS was my dream car. We got engaged and my stipulation was we were not getting married before I bought one. We both loved that car so we bought another one. His and hers. I miss those cars.

I have the perfect wife
I sold my Honda S2000 and my Harley Road King sidecar rig to make room in the garage for the Boss. I wasn't driving/riding them and I needed to make room. (Well, the cash didn't hurt either.) BUT my wife would have let me buy the Boss and keep the others. She gives me the freedom to buy and sell cars and bikes without having to get her permission. In return, I give her the courtesy of talking to her about my intended purchases and/or sales so she doesn't get surprised. This has worked for 37 + years so far, so it seems to be a good plan for us.
I have to tell a story about my wife that will make it clear how special she is:
In 2003 I was on a trip with a bunch of other Harley riders going from LA to Milwaukee for the Harley 100th Anniversary. One evening the discussion turned to the issues of traveling with female companions. After several negative stories I said "My wife can pack in one saddle bag, doesn't complain about helemet hair, and doesn't need bathroom stops any more often than I do." Three other riders said (in unison) "Keeper!" I agree.

Wow, she really is a keeper if she agrees to ride in the saddle bag. My wife complains when I make her ride in the trunk in the Boss. Maybe this is why she wont let me buy a Harley, she must have talked to your wife.
I sold my original 78 Silver Anniversary L82 Corvette which I used very little and the 07 GT500 to buy "her" Boss. She drives it (occasionally) but I get most of the enjoyment. Although it was a bit hard peeling the Boss steering wheel out of her hands at Miller once she got some track experience.
Have to recalculate my tire budget for next year....
