I am going to be keeping that in-mind when it's time to start shopping for a tow vehicle!

This Ecoboost is quite possibly the best vehicle I've ever owned. Obviously you can't compare it to the Boss, but for a winter daily driver, it's an amazing ride. I've owned luxury sedans that weren't nearly as nice to drive as this pickup.

cloud9,

I assume the hood prop is still in use. Are there provisions for the windshield washer jets also?

Thanks

Man have to say it also love the tow rig cloud9, and yes that looks like alot of trailer for a v6 truck what kind of millage you get pulling and does it have plenty of power. I think that is just wild such a small v6 engine like that with that towing capicity.

I'm still using the hood prop because it gets pretty windy around here in the summer. I've had friends with Vettes get konked in the head when the wind overcame the hydraulic hood struts. I decided to ditch the washer jets and bottle with a full gallon of fluid. Jason (Jza1736) had his installer relocate the washer nozzles to the Tiger Racing hood.

Thanks guys. Mileage is around 10, but with an enclosed trailer it really depends on prevailing winds. Highway mileage without pulling and travelling near 80 mph is 18.6. It has plenty of power, but keep in mind this little V6 is helped out by twin turbos I'm pretty sure it would hold its own in the 1/4 with the Boss if you could hook it up

I love my Boss, miss my F250 but have to agree, I have the 5.0 and love this truck. It is truly amazing what they have have done with the new F150's. Like I said before half the fun of a track day is pulling the Boss there with my new truck. I get 23+ highway at around 70, 16-18 in town and 15 towing.

I pull or used to I sold now, a 12' open single axle alum trailer with my polaris rzr on back and at around 70 only get about 15 mpg, that was with my Raptor and 6.2. Them Eco Boost engines are going to play a big part of the future I beleive.

That gas mileage is amazing given the workload. Did you evaluate other brands of trucks before buying that one or are you a Ford only kind of guy?

If you mean evaluate the XL, STX, XLT, King Ranch etc. then yes OK, for real I am a true Ford guy and have owned many Ford trucks, I did not even bother looking at others. In fact I have never even driven a GM or Toyota truck.

I was going to get the EcoBoost myself but a great deal came up on this truck with the color and options I wanted. The 5.0 has it's strong points just as well as the EB and I am very happy with it.

15mpg towing is really outstanding, considering I would get 7-9mpg towing a 10K enclosed trailer and I thought that was GOOD

The EB and 5.0 are very close in HP, the EB has better torque then the 5.0 and is faster like Gary said about running a quarter mile The advertised gas mileage is 1 less around town for the 5.0 and 2 less (4x4) highway. I guess I am doing better then that and my engine is barely broken in (2K miles). From what I have read on the truck forums the EB mileage is hit or miss, some love it others are not even getting close to the advertised MPG. The EB's towing capacity is the bigger advantage over the 5.0 depending on the setup you get.

That said, I am here in flat old FL and pull an open trailer, I sure I would lose a lot with an enclosed. My trailer is only about 2200 pounds, the Boss 3600 or so. I carry 4 tires (200) 30 gallons extra gas (180) jack, compressor tools etc with two people. It is not maxed out on weight but still getting up to 7K or more. I plan to keep this truck a long time, the only thing that would change that is if they make a 5.0 Ecoboost.

I'll probably catch hell for this, but it is what it is. An owner without a garage or covered parking available (to be remedied shortly)... We got a rare snowfall last night, so I snapped this shot.

Thanks Rick & Charlie!
The BOSS has proven to be quite photogenic!

For anyone that's interested, I have a small growing collection of photos on my SmugMug acct: http://richtrost.smugmug.com/Cars/2012-BOSS-302/17052747_pBGwmD#!i=1291200709&k=QmvksxR
If you hover over a particular image, it will give you an option to see the pic in various sizes, most of which I upload in pretty large format. Help yourselves! I don't charge anything for copying and pasting... though... maybe I should start making print services available?

Actually, now that I'm looking at the options on the site, you can select to purchase individual photos through that sidebar menu. To be honest I'm not even sure if any funds would come back to me, but maybe I'll upload my BOSS toon there if it works.
