I agree with you. It is a sad statement on the state of things that common courtesy is entirely uncommon. Basic respect is often unheard off. We as a people can be so cavalier and mock the loss of life and feel that we have any right to judge the quality of that life is itself sad. The life we should question is our own. We,the living, can change our legacy.

So funny how my statement is "mocking". I guess people don't get what I'm saying, so I'll stop. Maybe deep down you know, but you'll keep it to yourselves.

Maybe it's just a southern thing then, we show respect to everyone. Sometimes even if they do not deserve it

 

I grew up in WA and CA and our values are to show respect to everyone.

Then there's the few who think they are showing respect, when actually they are very disrespectful, in a high school kinda way. Where's the smilie for :growup: when you need it.

 

I'm from California, but I am the son of immigrants. I'm not sure if I count. I think treating people with respect is so important, it's a part of what I teach in my classroom.
