Paul Walker: Boss 302S Owner: RIP
 

Not sure about everyone here, but I'm personally a fan of his, and saw him as a modern day Steve McQueen. I found an article that mentioned the following:

He went out doing what he loves. Although tragic, I think he'll be immortalized with this. RIP Paul.

He seemed like a really cool guy, especially after he loaned his 302S to a driver who's car broke down.

I was surprised to hear he ran a 302S. I had no idea how legit he was involved with cars, racing and charities. He and Roger will be missed.

Lesson to learn though, if you're a movie star, stay the heck away from convertible Porsches.

Sucks he was a passenger to someone showing off when they crashed.

they are now saying the shop reported the car was having steering issues

It really is sad. I agree about him being a modern day Steve McQueen...
He and The Fast & The Furious cast started a new generation of car enthusiasts... good and bad. lol

Ride on Paul Walker & Roger Rodas you will both be missed.

Lessons to those left behind the street is not a race track. Roger was a professional grand prix driver and should know the street is not a place for a buck fifty.

Do it on the track with the proper gear.

Come on guys. He was a good guy and a reasonably good actor. Hardly a trend setting King of Cool like McQueen though. :shame:

You could have put any number of actors aside Vin Diesel in these movies with their action and stunts and the sales would have been the same.

Modern day Steve McQueen is more than a stretch.

About being a trend setter though... have you seen all the massive wings, graphics, and fart cans around? The Fast & The Furious started something, and yes, he was a part of it.... sad it caused a lot of rice burners...

I say modern day steve mcqueen as in, had an impact on the public who weren't aware of cars being fun and not just commuters.

I promise I'm not trying to equalize the two or go too far and step on any mcqueen groupy's feet.

I'm not dissing PW. But he wasn't the lead guy. And it was the movies themselves that triggered the fart can craze like you said - not Walker as an actor.

Honestly, Walker is no different than 90% of the mainstream and even no-name successful actors and actresses. They all have some sort of "give-back" program or charity. As stated by a few, I feel for the families and kids involved, nothing more. I think WAY too much credit and pats on the backs are given to these rich stars that either kill themselves or do something stupid and get killed. Maybe if we hold them accountable for their actions and not totally gush when they do something stupid, like leave a teenage kid without a Dad, this world will start giving the real heroes the credit deserved for actions and tragedies.

Nobody wants to make a thread for a war hero that saved a bunch of lives before getting killed in action.
Nobody wants to make a thread about a policeman that saves someone drowning in a pond after an accident.

Nope, we make a thread for some tool who killed himself and his friend while driving at extremely high speeds through a populated area.

Although no final verdict has been released, the general consensus is that they weren't street racing or doing anything dumb. Due to a lack of certain evidence, articles are stating that a mechanical failure, either tire blowing out or steering failing could be the cause of the accident.
Police were in the area, many people were close by... none have suggested "extremely high speeds through a populated area."

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if they were going faster than the 45mph posted speed limit.


About your heros comment. I agree... but I don't think this thread is meant to honor him as a hero. I think it's more so to acknowledge the current events and discuss them...

Don't, ignorantly, put blame on someone for an accident when you have no idea if they had anything to do with it. You're being no different than the Hollywood media.

I'm no more or less ignorant than you are assuming that there was a popped tire, etc. we may never know the real reason, but they say "don't ever meet your heroes" for a reason. Something was not quite kosher about that accident. I find it hard to believe there was that much wreckage from a 45mph accident. I'll stand by my assessment. Beside, I did not put blame on anyone. I merely stated a truth about how people glorify celebrities.
