I'm always ready to get out to the track! I usually run with SpeedVentures and NASA--I think SV has another BW event towards the end of this month that I'm aiming for.

Dang, I'll look it up. Chuckwalla is on the 18th and so is streets, but most of all I need tires and I'm not sure if I want track dedicated wheels and tires or just tires.

Shane. I think it would be good if we did a roll up on the first post. These are the times I saw throughout the thread. Not very well formatted but its a start.

Few laps at Sebring this weekend with a fellow site member.

Ran a best lap of 2:36, not timed but off the camera so give or take.

Daytona best 2:14, PBIR 1:33 and Homestead 1:49

woot, hit ECR over the weekend and put down a 2:04 and some change and a 2:06 and some change, timed with Trackmaster. A few seconds off the unofficial DD track record, i think the boss has a record run in it if i can fix the brake fade that is killing me! if i could wait until the 200 marker to slow rather than the 500 marker id be there.

lots more vid, just haven't got around to uploading it all yet. neither vid is of my best run FTR. put down the best times in the first two sessions, expected to be faster in later sessions and then the brakes faded. conserving camera batteries FTL.

i'm running willwood 550 dot 4 fluid and hawk hts plus pads. i haven't bled the brakes since i had the dot 4 swapped out three or four track days ago though so that might have something to do with the fade too. i do have the LS cooling ducts installed. im wondering if perhaps the fluid i am using doesn't have a high enough boiling point, that was all i could find locally.

Dude.....

1. You need to find different brake fluid. That stuff is not up to par. Go find some Endless RF 650 and give it a shot.

2. I would look for a dedicated track pad... Lots of options but go with something heavy duty that is ONLY developed for the track.

After this you shouldn't have any more brake fade....

Ron, where are you buying your Carbotechs? I might try that setup out after the PFCs.

I boiled AP600.... Admittedly I am hard on brakes and need some work in that area, as well as all areas.

I am giving these pads a shot next. Ron sold me...

CARBOTECH 877-899-5024
Ask for Mike Jr.Owners son.Tell him you are a track guy .He usually gives a 15 % discount to track guys.
Make sure you ask for XP20 compound for the fronts,XP 16 rears.
Adam do you have 2 piece racing rotors on the front? Steel brake lines? And are your dust shields off?
Remember ,brakes only slow you down!

the dust shields are in the front, but i totally forgot about the rear having them too. i am not running SS lines, a friend that tracks suggested changing to ss lines because the steel will help with overheating issues. are you running SS lines? i was thinking i had read they don't do much other than provide a firmer pedal on a mustang.

Thanks Ron! Yes I have DBA 5000 fronts and 4000 rears. I have ss lines with the front brake ducting kit installed as well as the rear dust shields removed.

I think my issue is I wait to late to brake and then hold them hard for to long. I can probably ease into them a little smoother and sooner, and then get off of them sooner and smoother. It is like I am hard on hard off. Almost to jerky. I think I just need some advanced instruction...

i made some nice improvements in that exact thing after reading the ultimate speed secrets book. i picked it up on my Kindle digitally from Amazon for like $14. Very nice read and well written. it's a compilation of all the speed secrets titles in one book. some of it was not aimed at normal track rats like most of us, but the first few chapters are great for those looking to get smoother and faster.

on a side note, someone pointed me to this i some how missed it when boss fever first took hold, i thought the stock pads were surprisingly decent for track work as a noob. anyone know what compound ford chose?

No, but they're still street pads.
