Need help with a couple issues. Experts inside please.

Here are the 2012 Boss mods:

PST CF DS
Steeda Boss lowering springs
Steeda adj. panhard
Steeda UCA
Steeda Billet LCA's
BMR bolt on relocation brackets
Magnaflow Boss exhaust

Problem#1
Exhaust leak at the joints where the cats and X pipe meet. Magnaflow kit did not come with new donut clamps for the cat to X pipe joint. So I had to reuse the stock clamps. It leaked from the get go after installation. I ordered new clamps and now have them on. However, the passenger side cat to X pipe joint still leaks even after completely tightening the clamp all the way. Is there a trick I may need to know to get this annoying little gas whisper taken care of? I could spin the clamp a little and re-tighten it suppose or just get another clamp...

Problem #2

This problem is a bit harder to diagnose. I suspect only those of you who have run into this issue can be of help. When I make a left turn there is sqeaking from the the driver side rear tire. Sounds like metal on metal. YES I gooped...with their supplied grease tubes...up every bit of the Steeda LCA parts when installing. Besides, it has been so annoying that I swapped back to the stock LCA's in an effort to eliminate the noise. No such luck. It's not the relocation brackets because it was sqeaking before I installed them. The sqeak only happens when turning left and it doesn't happen right away. The car has to be driven a little bit. I'm thinking that it has to do with the rotors heating up and maybe something like the warning tab is making intermittent contact. Could it be the emergency brake cable on that side?

Anyway, here's to hoping that someone on this forum has dealt with this before and can pass on some valuable expertise.

Thanks

For the exhaust leak if you can’t get the tubes adjusted enough for the clamp to properly seal you are going to have to use some kind of exhaust sealant, it has to be an exhaust specific sealant like Permatex Ultra-Copper or equivalent

On the other issue, it is hard to say. Could be the brakes, maybe a caliper dragging is dragging?

Best Regards,

TJ

I had noise coming from my rear right in a rhythmic fasion that turned out to be the anti vibration wafer on the back brake pad that was malaligned and rubbing the rotor. I removed all anti vibration wafer crap from all brake pads, problem solved.

Also, did you get the pinion angle trued since you're on a one piece DS.

BTW I'm no expert, sorry.

the noise is more than likely the left rear axle/hub having too much runout. Its not all that uncommon. I heard the sqeaking and thought my rotors were slightly warped. Then while the car was on the dyno you could actually hear the squeaking as we slowed the dyno down...and we then saw the whole wheel was moving slightly/wobbling. The squeak and woble were both speed dependent. Took her into the dealer and they replaced the l/r axle and changed the diff fluid as I just had the blower installed and thought it was good to take care of that torsion diff. The car had about 1,000 miles and was June of 2011 and 3 months old at the time

What exactly do you mean by this? I have a one piece DS, and I had gear whine at ~72mph with the stock shaft as well as the DSS AL shaft. Only difference now is that the whine is actually at a higher pitch/frequency. This issue has been reported by many 3:73 equipped Mustangs, not just Bosses.

I guess this is probably not the source of a squeak but driveshaft runout and a pinion angle way off can cause vibration noise.

Yes pinion angle was adjusted and re-verified by the Ford house. There is no vibration. Just the metal squeaking noise on the drivers side. I thought the issue is on the backside brake pad also. Just a bit coincidental that it started right after I had the suspension mods done. I would have thought that issue would have been there before the suspension mods... 12C/OBoss's explanation seems certainly plausible too. Thanks for the input guys.

I recommend you bring it in to your Ford dealer as soon as possible and have it looked at, BadBoss1930. Your Service Manager is in the best position to look into this for you. He can check into any warranty, Recalls, or Customer Satisfaction Programs that may apply to your vehicle. Let me know the outcome.

Well, I did bring my Ford to the dealer Deysha. They made a very convincing argument to leave with a different Ford. Problem solved.
