Miss the "Kenne Boss"...Is this 12' LS Worth it??

I have the opportunity to buy a 2012 LS in black...(one of the first 50)! It has only 36 miles on it and brand new. I have worked out a a deal at MSRP. The only issue is shipping across country with be approx $1200 as I dont have the time to "fly and drive" or I would.

My questions are:

1. How fair a deal is this on a 12 LS with a VERY low build number?

2. What's the approximate cost to install a rear seat? My kids HAVE to be able to enjoy this car with me!

3. I plan on installing the JLT Intake form my other Boss and and having Jon Lund update the tunes I have to work with the LS...other than GT500 exhaust, tint and 302S Wheels I dont plan on any other mods...for now LOL

4. The wife actually WANTS me to do this because shes afraid that I am close to buying another motorcycle and in no WAAAAY wants me to ride again....so **** should I do this???????????????????

Why not just try and get a '13?
The added little features are so nice. And do you really think the lower the production number the more value it has? I would think if it's not #1 or #2 forget it and try and get a '13 for MSRP.

I LOVE the look of the front of the 12' i just cant get over the fact that the 13's all have the same front end...but..

I LOVE the tail end of the 2013

I dunno...I feel the 2012 is more raw, less refined, not unlike a 2006 STi vs a 2008.

Guess which I owned???

Oh, and the red on black is so obnoxious but looks awesome at speed on the track!

I had a 12 and now have a 13.It boils down to personal preference. If you want a back seat get a regular Boss with all the options.I personally like the 13 for the sync and bluetooth functions. The HID lights are a must once you have had them.I hated not having them .All my other cars have them ,so it was like driving blind at night.I have now tracked my car 6 times and have had no cooling issues. It is also nice to have a head temp gauge .
If you want raw ,hold the brake down and the advance track button for 10 seconds! This will disable all the drivers aids (talent buttons) .Now you have a raw car whether a 12 or 13 .Either way 12 or 13 you're a winner!

I say "pass"

installing a rear seat would ruin any value of being a low prod number, plus its already a model year old. You already sold an awesome boss, move on and get something different.

plus you have the whole transport issue...

If you get a '12, I'd look at a GT500. You won't have to butcher it up to put a rear seat in it. Probably some really good deals to be had right now too.

If you want a Boss, I'd look at non-LS. If you really like the LS bits, almost all of them are easy enough to add to a base Boss. In fact, probably the hardest thing to add is the rear seat cross brace, which in your case actually isn't a problem at all.

I say with a bit of bias that the '12 Black Boss will always stand out as one of the most unique Boss' ever made. Love it or hate it, it is very unique! We also have the 2013 in SBY but it is not nearly as identifiable as an LS. The black/red 2012 is a bad boy!

Adding a rear seat (and belts) would be really trivial. You would have lots of takers to trade your LS interior pieces for a back seat. I say go for it.

"Under 50" isn't going to matter to any collector unless it's #1 or #1 or #1

IMHO anyone buying this car for collectible purposes is going to be disappointed unless it goes straight from the showroom to a cocoon, and waits there for 30-40 years. Just drive the **** things and don't worry about collector's value.

I'm confused, didn't you sell your 12 CO with back seats to pay for your son to race? Did you hit the lotto? You already had a Boss with so much HP and a back seat. Buy a 13 GT500

yes I did...mainly because it was not a Boss anymore to me...waaay too much power...no more 7900-8000 RPM shifts...couldn't do track days with it....needed MASSIVE maintenance as far as clutch...gas...blower belts in the future if i were to REALLY enjoy it...

anyway I really miss the Boss and the kid loves the quad but has gone through 2 motors in approx 45-50 hrs and 3 races at $3000 and $3800 each...I am done with the high strung quads. I am doing a 90cc 4 stroke conversion that will be legal for him to ride next year and wont kill me...mainly the time i have into it!!!

AND I MISS MY BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted a LS last year but could not justify it and now if I add the back seat, the wife LOVES the black on red which is a WIN

I will minor mods and actually track her and autox her...

+ 1 Putting a seat in would be no problem.

Where are you located? I would swap my rear seat for your x brace and delete materials.

If you try to sell your LS in the future without the back seat brace hardware, I think you would have to find a very specific buyer. That is a core part of the LS experience. Anything can be done, of course, but I consider that a hard point on the option list. It's like taking the shaker scoop assembly off the '03/'04 Mach 1 and then trying to sell it later. I think it would be difficult.
