LS Front Splitter Install Help?
LS Front Splitter Install Help?
So I got the extra LS parts this week. The transmission scoop was simple. The brake cooling ducts were a pain in the butt due to the ducting not being big enough to fit over the caliper bracket. I eventually got it, but it took me way longer than it should have. The splitter was easy - until it came to the dang splitter support rods of all things. The attachment threading on the bumper bracket is threaded vertically, but the holes in the plastic part of the bumper are angled. How on earth does the top of the support rod thread into the bumper bracket without removing the bumper or cutting the bumper? Has anyone done the splitter install yet and know what I am talking about? Does anyone have a solution? I don't want to cut the bumper nor do I really want to take it to a dealer when I am at a 98% solution right now.

No help here. The dealer was supposed to install the other equipment for you for free I believe. I don't think they will install the LS front splitter for you though. Are you going to run it on the street?
I don't mind installing the parts myself. Its fun. I bought the car out of state and the extra parts had not arrived when I took delivery.
I don't know if I'll run the splitter on the street or not. I wanted to install it and see it first. It is fairly time consuming so swapping it on and off isn't a quick job.
I will take another look at it today and see if I was missing something obvious. If anyone has access to an LS with the splitter installed I would love to hear how the top support attaches to the bumper bracket.

I got them on. It took a while to figure out. You really have to push up the plastic piece on the bumper. Eventually the screw head will bite. Not easy and it felt like I was going to break something. Once the first one went in and I understood the technique, the second was easier. Ford could have made it very simple if they drilled the two bumper holes about 3 cm back towards the car.
Splitter looks good though. And its not that intrusive/low. I may run with it for a little on the street. I have 300 more miles until 1000 and then I can track it.

Any pics?
I am going to go for a drive in a second. Then wash/wax, then pics. I'll post when the car is clean.
The instructions say get some black silicone and use it in the eyelets. I definitely recommend it. Otherwise the supports are loose. For the brake ducting, its going to suck getting them on the caliper bracket. I actually cut some of the metal in the ducting so it would stretch a little in order to get it on the bracket. Make sure the ducting goes along the inside (towards center of the car) of the washer fluid reservoir.
If I can think of anything else I learned while doing it, I'll post up.

No issues with driveways or clearance. I drove about 30 miles mixed hiway and city traffic. My garage has a lip, so I have to pull in head first, but it works. I am used to being wary of danger zones since my Cobra is even lower than the Boss. There is just some places I don't go.
Here are some pics.
