A word about Laguna Seca & 2013 Production
Laguna Seca Production delayed
Iv'e beed told from a reliable source, that the Red and Black paint for the Laguna Seca's comes from a company in Japan, and due to a lack there of production numbers for the already limited produced vehicles has been cut in half. I scoured the internet in attempt to confirm this, and couldn't find anything. Im not sure if Im suppose to know this or spread the word about it, but I figured that for those of us waiting for automobiles that will someday be rare for many reasons including the effects of mother nature causing a material hold. It was important that I share.
Im guessing that those waiting for late year allocations will end up with 2013's which will offer L stripes and Shaker hood scoop, as well as a Boss 429 option. just thought you would want to know.

I find it very hard to believe that Ford would hold up production because they couldn't get some red or black paint out of Japan. I could be wrong but I would be surprised if Ford even used Japanese paint on their vehicles. There are lots of great American companies who have high quality automotive paints, no reason to hold up production, especially for a car so high in demand.

What?
the pigments held up in japan are for tuxedo black, which is not a mustang color and the red isn't a stang color either from what i understand. the tuxedo black has a pearlescent metallic flake in it and i would assume whatever red color is held up does too. that came from bloomberg IIRC in a talk with someone form ford. ford did in fact stop taking orders on any tuxedo black cars and on whatever the red color is. since you can get RR boss 302's its not that color and since all boss 302s use the same black for the roof, it cant be the black LS either. the hold not is apparently the recaro seats from what other folks have been told be dealers, unless that has changed and i missed a thread around here.
also i will speculate here a bit. Ford has a massive hard on for the boss name right now as they should. they got more press and glowing reviews for this car than any stang i can recall in a long time. we know Shelby is pulling out of the car market and going all aftermarket parts. i have assumed that we will be seeing a cobra return to replace the Shelby when it leaves. i am rather convinced now that once the Shelby leaves we will see the boss 429 as the top of the line mustang. the boss name has more heritage with ford than the cobra IMHO and would make more sense given the boss 302 and its popularity and success so far.

I know a guy that works in the factory and he said that Bosses are delayed because the black and red paint is needed to set up the alien landing strip for Area 51.

I heard similar stories when I picked up my boss from the dealer. We got to talking about the color (mine is race red) and he said he didn't know how rare the color combo would turn out to be since the Japan issues were holding up a few things that affected the boss production. Other thing is, he asked a hypothetical question, what can Ford possibly do to top the boss 302? I said, how about a 429! I mentioned the race team a few years back that had successfully stroked out a trio of 6.2L prototypes to 7.0's and had great track success and he just kind of gave me a smile and a nod and said that's probably not too far from the truth right now...
Granted, I always think I know more about Mustangs than these guys when I go in there, but it was pretty cool to hear even an acknowledgement of such a crazy idea.

I am sure that since there is such a hugh demand for the Boss LS, Ford would just wait to fill the orders for the Black Boss LS and produce the other colored cars while they wait for black paint. By the way , If Ford would produce a Boss 429 Mustang, I would be the first in line for one.
the thing with this big displacement engines is that we then again get into too much weight on teh front end and cmpromised handling liek the Gt500 suffered from. I'd liek to see a boss 429 and we may gt one, but I am not sure how ford will pull it off. i think we may see a ecoboost coyote in teh gt500 repalcment too. i can see a cobra with TT coming after shelby leaves and i can see a boss 429 too.
found more info about metallic additive in the paint from Japan
