Limp mode, Engine Temp or Oil Temp

I know our Boss have a limp mode
..........I call it "having too much fun" mode

Anyways, who knows that the parameters are for the limp mode to be triggered?

On the 12's, engine coolant temp triggers limp mode, somewhere around 245-250 degrees I believe. And if you are reaching those temps, imagine what your oil temps are with the factory cooler! My oil was 270-275 degrees after the cooler when running 220 to 230 water temps.

Hate to break it to you, but your car does not have a coolant temp sensor. Coolant temps are derived from Cylinder Head Temps (CHT), and there is no gauge for CHT.

It is part of the digital gauges in the 13 Boss 302. Either displays as a gauge or just a digital readout.

Little hot in Phoenix when I took this pic.

Kendall is correct at least for the 2012 engine. The coolant temp is synthysized from a sensor in the cylinder head although (as far as I know) the cylinder head temp is not reported. Perhaps it is on the buss and can be read by an instrument plugged into the OBD plug.

Well, there you go cyl head temp is available on the 2013 model.

You could always put it in engineering test mode by holding the reset and setup buttons while starting the car. I know in my base 2014 v6 I get a coolant temp reading according to the dash.
