I recall reading that the Boss makes power up to/through redline suggesting there is more beyond the stated 7500 redline. My bet is that the Red Key permits a higher redline and hence higher hp.

Maybe this "Red Key" just unlocks a special "offroad" tune, similar to what we see from Brenspeed/Bama/Tillman etc. 8K red line included with faster throttle response and better/more aggressive fuel and timing mapping.

The guy in the video does speak of all the "upgrades" the valve train and engine as a whole in the BOSS received. You very well could be onto something.

From what I gather, this special feature is LS only.

The V8 supercars run the same motors you use in Nascar racing, and that's ohv. "Assassin" has corrected him.

now that you mention it, I don't know why you keep repeating this. It appears there will be 1000 of these. IF the key does something like add a bunch of HP in a manner that is difficult for the aftermarket to duplicate then it will be very cool and great news. Just because there won't be a bunch of these in Canada doesn't mean the rest of us won't be excited.

I don't care about what numbers are coming to Canada. I'm saying if it's limited to the LS then who cares!? The US has 10x the population of Canada- so the available LS's to the US are the same percentage wise. Duh!
If the key is unique to the LS it's no big deal, it actually makes the regular Boss seem like a watered down version. I don't mind the LS having a few more track tweaks but if it's got a more powerful engine than I will strongly reconsider buying a regular Boss. I may as well pull the trigger on the 2011 GT500 I've been looking at.
I also think we need to be a bit careful speculating what this key really does do. Saying the Boss will have 500hp is just setting everyone up to be very disappointed when Ford does finally reveal everything about the car.

If the key increases performance in some form, I hope using it won't affect the warranty.
I also think if it affects emissions, the key will have to be bought (for a small fee to owners?) after the vehicle sale in the same way aftermarket items are bought.
