lol @ this thread.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't be trading in a car I'm $5k upside down on to get into a new Mustang, then you'll be $15k upside down.

congrats- I went round and round with the wife for 1.5 years before ordering the 06... 3 kids at the time made it a battle- in the end we solved the 'not enough seats' problem by getting her a 07 too

I have to get approval from the War and Treasury department (wife) before any car related purchase. This is so I do not transfer all our funds to AM or Ford.

Working together on a large purchase is the right thing to do. What I hate is "my wife gave me permission". Being married to a control freak is no fun. I should know, I was married to one for 20 years.

This. Why can't their be a happy medium? Just because some are correctly lamenting the record number of emasculated wimps being led around by their "better" half as they call them, doesn't mean we should or want to return to the 1950s either. I would say it's pretty normal for most couples to discuss and agree on a $30,000 purchase before it occurs. As long as your wife would 'go to you for permission' aka you would discuss and come to an agreement as well then its all good.

It does not bother her I have an impractical GT 5.0 as a daily driver, have a Trans Am in the garage I hardly ever drive, play in a cover band on the weekends, and collect die cast cars by the thousands. I let her do her thing(s) and she lets me do mine.

I asked you guys to take it to PMs. Since you choose to not do so, some of you can take a break from the site and I'll clean up the mess others of you have made.

my wife wants to enjoy it too, but we both pay the bills so its only right to include her in the process....she is not opposed to owning more if we can afford it. she understands the madness behind the mustang obsession so im just making sure we can pay all the bills off and afford the new car. win win

Griffech,
I'm green with envy!! Please keep us posted.

I'm on the fence...I'm just about done paying for my '11 and I love the hell out of it...not sure I can justify taking the plunge again just yet.

Thanks, man!! I have taken on a couple weekend cleaning jobs for some extra cash for the new car payment and I have been sober for 10 months now and that is saving tons of money and I have changed my eating lifestyle drastically. I am eating healthy and eating at home, no more fast food, ordering pizzas at 30 bucks a pop and the benefit is I have lost 17 lbs in 2 weeks. I think I was easily spending 600 bucks a month on crap food and getting groceries on top of it. Going from 5000+ calories a day to 2000 feels GREAT!! Also I will fit in the Mustang better come the fall I am 6'1" and was 295 lbs and am now at 278, want to be down to 240 or less by the time my car arrives

I usually order a medium sausage and pepperoni and an order of mozz sticks and a 20 oz soda, then throw in a 20% tip It adds up fast

I see. By the way, great job on picking a more healthy lifestyle! Sounds like you're well on your way to feeling much better! We all have to realize that we're not 16 anymore and give up our old habits.

I really get sick of hearing this from grown men..

"The wife said it's OK", "wife said I could", "gotta ask the boss"... I can't see myself ever asking for permission to spend my own money LOL.
where did the pants go!?

They sell women's pants as well. I know because I have to sit in a chair while my wife tries 10 pairs on at each store.

Let's not start this again. In my household my wife and I are 50/50 partners in everything. She makes just as much as I do and all of our bills and our expenditures require both of our incomes so she has a say in everything just as I do.
