One thing I would like to see is a larger fuel tank. Its been 16 gallons for what seems to be forever. I would like to have at least 18 gallons to keep from stopping so often. Its a minor nit pick but there is no such thing as too much gas, lights to bright or too much power.

I just want to see pricing not continue to balloon as it has in the past 6 years. In 2005 I bought a 2005 premium GT for 28k. That same car would cost 34k today. I understand that a lot of tech improvements have become standard but iI think Ford would be wise to remember that part of the Mustang's appeal has been affordable performance.

I am sure Ford will try real hard to make next generation Mustang weigh less than the current model. Brewman already got his answer to his question about the use of lighter driveshaft materials. Carbon fiber driveshaft already in 2013 GT500 for a weight saving of 15 pounds.
I would also like to see a larger gas tank for the longer drives.

I was hoping for a V-10 in the Crown Vic. I would have thought that would happen, but didnt. I would really really be surprised to see a Mustang with a V-10, but would be an interesting Mustang.

Sleeker Body line, the 05-12 is very bulky but I still love my 2011.
IRS
Staggered wheel option on GT
2013 GT500 6 pistons calipers ( track pack )
Continue to offer the Recaro seats
No more truck ride height
450hp DI normally aspirated 5.0
touch sensitive interior buttons ( like in the Edge )
Digital gauges ( like in the Fusion )
Keyless ignition ( PLEASE )
HIDs standard ( looks promising since the they are on the 2013 )
LED tails ( See above )

While weight savings is a plus, thats not the reason there is a CF driveshaft in the GT500 though.

That CF driveshaft has more to do with operating a one piece driveshaft at a continous high rpm (read more than a drag strip pass). If Ford could have done an aluminum one piece shaft I'm sure they would have but with the length of the S-197's driveshaft and the limit on its diameter, aluminum shafts still have problems with critical speed and wobbling.

I would like a high quality interior. Not one with just more gadgets. I was about to buy a 5.0 a few months after they came out but when I looked at the inside I recognized the cheap interior mine has. IF they are going to price these cars in the mid 30's, they need to increase interior build quality. Currently it is below F150 standards.

I don't understand, I thought the '10-current Mustang has been praised for it's interior improvements. It's much better than my '06.

Doesn't the F150 cost more than a Mustang? One that has a nice interior anyway?

The '10's are much better than the '05's in terms of interior materials and finish, but that probably says more about the opportunity for improvement in the '05 interiors than any broader world-class goodness of the '10's. Even many other fellow Ford models at similar price points now have superior interior furnishings.

Given that Ford seems to intend to market the Mustang more broadly, they will be forced to bring the interior up to world class market standards, even if the domestic market has been willing to essentially overlook the Mustang in this regard. Seeing what Ford has done with the Fiesta and Focus certainly shows they are up to the task. Let's hope they apply the same rigor to a modern Mustang interior interpretation.

I just hope they keep the interior design clean and not turn it into a disco revival Hyundai style orgy like on the Focus and the Fiesta. Considering how good the 2010+ interior design is there is actually a lot they can screw up.

I would like to thank bob for the link to the Mark Williams driveshaft tech. Thanks bob. I read the tech sheet with great interest because I have cut down several driveshafts over the years to make driveshafts for my Dirt Track Modified. I was always interested in how the automobile manufactureres made their driveshafts. I have cut down the large diameter driveshafts from Ford Galaxies and Dodge Corenets. I was always surprised how thin wall tubing was used to make a drivshaft. Some of the driveshafts had a dense cylindrical cardboard inside to cut down on noise and maybe some vibration. The driveshafts I made were much shorter than stock so I probably did not encounter wobble. After reading the MW tech sheet, I can see why the modern driveshafts are two piece in the Mustang. I am sure the manufactures want the driveshaft to last for 100000 or more miles and remain quiet. Good to see the carbon fiber driveshaft can be a one piece unit in the 2013 GT500,

I found it to be rather surpising why Ford put a two piece driveshaft in the Mustang GT. To me, the Mustang wheel base was short enough that a one piece shaft should not suffer from wobble at the speed the GT was limited to. Unless Ford was looking at the future of the Mustang and was preparing for a Mustang capable of sustained high speed operation. However, I cant envision there would be many times a person would drive at sustained high speeds. In the past , cars such as the Galaxies had long one piece drivshafts in cars that ran at legal speed on the interstates.

I would also like to see the availability of more colors also. They offer something like this got a have it green color but dont have a tasteful blueish gray color. I dont get it. I never liked any of the Ford blues because they looked too purpleish to me. Azure blue is the best Ford blue ever and I like it a lot better than grabber blue. How about pulling something like this out of the closet instead of these obnoxious green colors?

I agree- the current interior is about perfect, that leaves only one way to go usually...

I would also like to see more colors added to the Mustang. Ford should always offer competition orange as an option. CO makes black just pop and black makes CO pop. I would like to see Ford really take a risk and offer a Mustang in Pink with lavender trim.

i liked the interior in my 2010 but i thought it was far from perfect, the door panels were cheap hard plastic (where alot of us rest an arm while cruising) + non adjustable steering column. I thought the fit and finish was good but not great, definitely not excellent. they could have done a better job at placing some of the climate controls, one big pet peeve was the power point right smack in the middle of the dash i didn't want to plug anything in there becuase it looked foolish with the wire hanging down in front of the nav screen. all i am saying is that there is room for improvement. especially on a ground up redesign.

in addition to adding many of the tech options that others listed above i am hoping the addition of IRS will fix the wheel gap in the rear as they will be able to hopefully be a bit more precise with the suspension and with 18s/19s it will have more of the audi/BMW gap. it seems like on the current car fixing the front would be easy but they have to balance it with the huge gap in the rear.
