Matthew ! Hopefully Ford will continue to offer the premium package without getting the MyFordTouch option, as I'm not a very huge fan either..

I hope we don't get a new group of owners that cry about everything.

50% will hate it initially, and buy leftover 14's, then the " haters " will warm to it after some time, as they did from 09 to 10.

We have had three vehicles (2 current) with MFT and it has worked great in all three.

Sometime I wonder if all the complains about MFT or SYNC are from people that are not tech savvy.

Well integrated tech shouldn't require savvy.

Its probably coming but it needs to be a stand alone option. I absolutely hate it and for me Ford would have to discount the car heavily to make me buy one with it. Once Ford digs their heels in on something and commits they never let go even when they have screwed up. Mustangers are probably the most vocal group of critics out there so if they think the Focus people are screaming about it just throw it in the next Mustang and watch the lid come off.

If you think MFT is bad, go use Cadillac's CUE on an ATS. Holy **** it's terrible!

I've used it quite a bit on a number of vehicles and haven't had it act up once. I don't always agree with some of the design choices (why only 6 preset radio stations instead of 10 now?) but the system has come a long way. I think the truck setups with redundant controls are the best designed of the brand.

Adrian ! Here's my question for you.. What do you like more about the 2005-09 Mustang over the 2010-12 ?

What I don't quite understand is.. The 2011 and up have the 420 HP 5.0 4v Coyote w/6 speed manual over the 2005-09 4.6 3v 300 HP w/5 speed manual..

The 2011's and up are far more advanced technology wise over the 2005-09 Mustangs and are also significantly improved/refined in overall quality materials as well, especially interior wise..

I can see that the 05-09 still had a bit of that "bronco bucking" feeling that the Foxes and SN95s had, still feeling like a wild beast that you had to tame, even with their stupid drive by wire throttle. The S197 "new edge" of 2010+ lost almost all of that. I've only driven a 2010 GT and a 2012 V6 auto, so I can't say if the Coyote brought some of that back, but I rode in a 2011 GT and while it's fast, it was just so isolated and quiet. I love the interior quality and features, but it needs more of that original Mustang character to be built back in, and I'm not talking about more sound tubes, etc!

I liked that I could add a double din radio of my choice. How easy the standard transmission was to shift. The price was higher. The aftermarket lagged a little while the 4.6 motor had years and years of goodies. I liked the body lines. I grew to like most of the body lines in the 2010-2012 body. I agree with Charlie about the full diaper look. The cup holder sucked in the new body.

The 5.0 motor is one of the sexyest things ever

Unfortunately those days are over, especially with Mustang going global, the majority of people who want a Mustang want to buy into the imagery and the hype, to be part of that history but they don't want the sorts of compromises that made them fun to drive and gave them their character.

Don't get me wrong ! I don't regret owning my 2005 GT and have been really happy with it, but if someone were to offer the right price ? I would turn around and purchase either a 2014 GT in a heart beat or wait for the upcoming 2015 Mustang...

to be fair.. I'm nuts and like odd things. If they sold the 2002-04 svt focus again I would buy it. I'm talking no sync or anything. Just as it was offered in 2002.

If the new stang is crappy I will mod the heck out of the ST focus I have.

I wanted to order an Escape without the MFT... but my bride likes the tech stuff. And it's cool as hell when it works... which ours did about half-time for the first few months. We had several other electrical issues that may have been related somehow through the steering wheel controls. It still acts up occasionally, but Ford made it very clear to me early on that it's not a safety issue... so they'll fix it when they fix it. If they fix it.

To me, it devalues the car by having it. I dont want MFT anymore than I want a 2011 or 2012 Mustang with a MT82.

To whomever mentioned it I have used CUE in Cadillacs. I dont care for it either but at least it works and doesnt lock up on you.

Just give me a solid basic mechanical package I can enjoy driving and not a bunch of fluff that costs money and aggravation.

One more thing. Ford has been trying to fix MFT for 2 years and its still not fixed. I dont care who is to blame. You write the check to Ford so they are responsible. Their biggest problems come from outsourcing. MFT, MT82, DCT, Powerstrokes of past, ect.... When will they finally learn?

There was a time when I thought you could buy a new redesigned Ford product the first year out with confidence. I no longer feel that way. Their quality has slipped big time and a lot of it is design errors and you can only polish a turd so much. I am excited about the new Mustang but I am not willing to part with my money to be the first in line. I dont trust them.
