Last Saturday I drove down the California coast through Carmel and on south and I counted over 20 2015 Mustangs as we went. It seemed like a majority were red or silver convertibles.

Sadly, I didn't spot any as being GTs - but this got me wondering: from a quick drive by, how does one tell if a 2015 is a V6 or an Ecoboost? Are the rims different? That would be difficult to make out during motion... anything else that would give it away?

Sound of the exhaust might, but that would require hearing it over my (upgraded) stereo and my own 2014 5.0.

From the front the base V6 does not have fog lights where the Ecoboost does. The option package 051a adds fog lights to the V6 along with the forged magnetic wheels. The same wheels are also available on the Ecoboost however. The V6 and the Ecoboost have the same grille and emblems upfront.


On the back the pony emblem is the Ecoboost where the pony emblem with the three bars behind it is the V6.
