Now see wildsailor, this is the kind of guy you are talking about. The guy who can't just have a differing opinion. He has to have a differing opinion and additionally dispense the petty, juvenile, myopic insults to anyone that doesn't agree with his point of view. He's that guy.

I think with the S550, the designers were targetting the 1967-70 retro design cues. They almost got there with the roofline and haunches but the sagging curve across the trunk creates that low, weak rear end effect that diminishes the overall design, IMHO. The S550 haunches seem to give it a powerful stance in profile but it needs a stonger body line across the trunk panel to match that effect.
What Ford should've done was take the Iacocca 45th anniversary Mustang as it's inspiration for the 2015 design and they would've had a real winner on they're hands as far as I'm concerned

Well, I have a news update to share. Today while at work I came up behind a white in color 2015 ecoboost mustang. As some of you know on here that i have been a bit of a Debbie downer of this model. In fact, I even said it was ugly.
Well, after seeing the 2015 mustang again today I was wrong about it being ugly. Its FUGLY AND DOWN RIGHT PITIFUL! Good grief Ford! Ha ha ha

March Sales were in excess of 12,000 units--a gain of over 35% from last years total and the highest monthly sales figure in over six years. So far, 2015 sales are averaging close to 10K a month, something the Mustang hasn't done since the 2005-2007 models. At this pace sales will have eclipsed the annual sales of the 2011 by mid-July.

If those sales numbers are global then how is that great considering the 2005 and 2007 models were not global? Comparing global sales stats to US only stats is not even in the same league.
What are the US sales only! Then compare to the previous years. I would certainly expect and hope a brand new redesigned model would have amazing sales numbers as did the camaro did back for the 2010 model year.

Because Ford would never lie or do anything questionable, like say have a 50th Anniversay Mustang out of sequence with every other Anniversary Mustang. Or insist there is no hood corrosion problem on their products despite the tens of thousands of images and complaints about it. lol
At any rate, Ford actually got it right this time with the 2015 Mustang as the 50th Anniversary edition rather than with the outgoing 2014 as I had originally expected.. Guess it just goes to show that Ford wasn't really too concerned about creating marketing hype to boost sales for their outgoing S197 platform as they did with every other Anniversary model from years past were they

Rob! Actually it was the every other Anniversary Mustang that was out of sequence and all because Ford wanted to boost sales of their outgoing platform models.. So what better way to accomplish this by putting 40th Anniversary badges on their outgoing SN-95 platform to create marketing hype in order to boost sales before the anticipated arrival of the all new 2005 Mustang in which btw: should had been the real 40th Anniversary model..

Oh I'm not looking to restart the 50th Anniversary debate Rock. I was just making the point that a corporation (in this case Ford) will almost always spin facts or stories to make them look good despite whatever the truth might actually be. I don't trust anything they say and only half of what I see them do.

The Camaro sales have never been great, except maybe compared to 2001 sales when GM sold less than 30K units. The 2005 Mustang topped 160,000 for the year. 2006 topped 166K. In contrast the gen5 Camaro has never booked over 100K for a year. Though sales have been better than the Mustang, GM had hoped that Camaro sales would approach the numbers generated by the retro-styled Mustang. To be fair, there was this thing called a recession that had something to do with sales of 2-door sports coupes over $30K slumping. Since 2010 the Camaro has never reached 7.5K per month on average, but hit over 7K several years. Respectable numbers for the segment, but not a volume seller by any measure.
Mustang's sales haven't been great of late either. In 2011 the sales were relatively anemic, under 71k units for the year. The Mustang came close to matching Camaro sales in 2012, averaging about 6.9k per month. The 2015 is averaging roughly 9.9K units per month, a pace that would easily pass the 100K barrier and, BTW Mustang sales have not even begun in Europe (not slated until June). Given the competition, and the current economy, it is a fairly dramatic increase for a niche model.

Not global, but not the same economic environment either. What were Camaro sales in 2005? How many Challengers sold in 2005? (Get the point--fewer consumer choices?) The economy was somewhat more robust in 2005 and 2006. Of course, you can spin it anyway you like. The first rule of journalism: Don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

If those recent sales numbers are for U.S sales only then that's great. Glad to see Ford is doing well with the new 2015 design. It hasn't caught on YET to the Philadelphia/Baltimore/Washington DC metro area because I hardly see any. Heck I drove from Maryland to Virgina down the I-95 corridor today and didn't see one new 2015 mustang.
I did see today plenty of Corvettes, S197 models, Camaro models, BMW models out the a$$ but not one 2015 model. I'm sure it will catch on soon enough.
