Some Pics Under My Car
Thought I'd share some pics I took of my car....UNDER my car, courtesy of a local oil change place. It was hard to get a good angle on the rear suspension from the oil change pit.
What is the big square muffler looking thing in the exhaust? Two pipes go in, two come out. Also curious about the braided wrap over both pipes near the trans. And also, why would they make the front air dam curved not straight?

Big box is likely a resonator, but dang, it is big! Braided metal things are flex joints to account for engine moving a bit on its mounts.
Is your pony an eco-boost? I saw an interview with a Ford Corp Engineer talking about three distinct air dams for the 2015 Mustang. I believe he said that the curved air dam was designed to enhance the air flow through the EB front grills. The EB has speed controlled grill shutters.
If you look closely at the curved air dam you can see the "root" attachment points for a slightly curved air dam for the other model.

GT Air Dam
Just looked at my library of 2015 GT underbody photos. The GT uses the slightly curved attachment points for its air dam. I couldn't find the Ford YouTube video with the design engineer showing the the three air-dam shapes.
The shapes were determined using wind tunnel trials.
