Adding touchscreen/Navigation
Adding touchscreen/Navigation
Can you add and have this installed if it didn't come with? I have a 2015 GT, and was wondering if this is something you can have installed. Also, can the pony projection lights be something that can be added on as well?
Thanks (:
Thanks (:
It's probably possible, but also likely cost prohibitive unless you can find a junked system.
Just to get navigation on a factory MyFord Touch system is pretty evasive, so I have to imagine installing the complete system is likely a little worse (in addition to not having the SD card slot - at least I don't think you do).
Here is an installation of just navigation if you already have MFT.
As a side note, Ford claims both are not possible (Navigation upgrade to MFT and a complete MFT installation upgrade to existing Sync).

As far as adding touchscreen and navigation to the base, there is a company that makes a module that allows you to retain your Sync functions from the base system with third party head units. I am looking for the link right now. Currently there aren't any headunits available for the base setup yet but I would assume they are in the works. Total guess on my part though.
Edit: I found the link for the module. They don't have one available for the base stereo yet. http://maestro.idatalink.com There is a thread on another site where the user has pictures of the dash removal just to get to the head unit and it is a beast of a job. Very labor intensive and you have to remove a ton of bolts, pieces, etc.

It adds the Nav and integrates it with Sync. The voice part of it works really well. Personally I prefer using the navigation built in vs using my phone.
If it works as easily as my iPhone, then I could see using it. I plan on getting most of the options anyway so adding the nav seems easy enough. I have experience with too many auto navigation systems that require you to spend too much time entering a location. It's easy to say Siri, route to X and have it just start giving turn by turn commands. If the system on the Stang is that easy, then I could see using it.
