Out with the 2014 and in with the 2015 Roush

I just finished shopping insurance for my GT350, and in all instances the VIN came up as a Mustang GT Premium. Found a great deal where adding the GT350 to my policy will cost me less now for 3 cars than I have been paying for 2 cars, with the same coverage. Not quite free insurance on the GT350, but close enough.

That's strange I read on a different forum the insurance on a gt350 someone bought was through the roof. Hopefully your company doesn't come back in a few weeks with a software update lol.

Hey Fords4Ever,
You can definitely deal on the Roush's. I went in using my x-plan and ended getting a better deal without it. We couldn't make a deal when I first went in and walked away. Then got an email a few days later during their end of month push and they gave me what I wanted. I would say you could probably get anywhere from 4k-6k off total sticker. Generally you'll get the same discount off the base car itself as if you were negotiating for a GT and then a bit off the Roush package itself. Best part is these VIN as GT's so my insurance was the same as my 14 GT. I know I'll get a good bump when my wife gets her GT350 since that is how it will VIN to insurance.

I hope you never have to find out but will your insurance cover the cost of Roush specific parts in the event of an accident since it's covered as a GT instead of a Roush?

You may want to discuss this with your agent. I know when I insured my 2014 Stage 2 I was also told the same as you. The car was going to be rated the same as a GT because that is what the VIN says it is. After a little discussion here is the kicker; the car will start out with an undepreciated value based on the Ford MSRP, not the Roush MSRP. If you wreck it you will get something less than the Ford MSRP to go get another.
After finding this out I made sure my rep was fully aware of the Roush $ and they worked to make sure I would be covered for replacing a Roush and not just a Mustang GT.
Sure they will insure you, but you will be very under insured. Not fully protected. Not the bargain you thought it was.
I am not an agent, so discuss this with your insurance agent.
