Now Ford has designed a way for the engine noise to make it's way in to the cabin while keeping other noise out, but that doesn't make it fake. And the Ecoboost will have active noise cancellation to drown out the undesirable noises, but that still doesn't make it fake.

So I'm curious as to what fake noise you are referring?
One of the reviews, I can't recall which one unfortunately, mentioned that the EcoBoost was indeed piping engine noise through the speakers.

How times have changed!!!!

Remember back in the day if you crossed the wrong wires you'd get music coming out of your engine bay?

Well as I said I was unaware of it. Though it wouldn't be the first time a review got some details wrong.

I saw a review talking about the new 2.7 Ecoboost (F-150 and new Edge) and said it was a 4 cylinder when it's most definitely a V6.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see when forum members get their cars and report back.

Okay, I am not the biggest EcoBoost fan myself, but requiring Premium (which it doesn't, it's recommended though) is hardly a deal breaker. All of you should be putting Premium in your car ANYways. Because Mustang.

Try looking at other Mustang forums, they talk about the "Fake" eco engine noise that is put threw the speakers.

BTW: they have now figured out how to disable, but it also makes the radio not work

There is no choice. If you want the premium package, you get the Ecoboost. Period. That is the point of this whole thread.

I'm not entirely convinced. However, I'm keeping my eyes and mind open. Ford says they are using active noise cancellation. Now are they pumping engine noise in with the active noise cancellation? Perhaps. But it could just be that these people have disabled the active noise cancellation and now the other noises that were being cancelled are drowning out the real engine noise. I fly a fair amount and once I purchased noise canceling headphones I can verify that the technology is real and it works.

My plan is to test drive the car and if whatever noise is in the cabin does not annoy me, then I'll get the car. For me it doesn't really matter what makes the noise. (That said I would prefer natural over artificial just from a principle stand point). I'll be leasing the car so won't be modifying it.

Fake or not, I'm impressed. Take a look at this (probably best to use headphones)

Regarding the EcoBoost POV video...revving what I can only assume is an un-broken in engine that high for extended periods of time is asking for issues later IMO.

Why, the V6 does not use an adaptive tune. It is designed to use 87 octane. Using 93 would not only be a waste of money it would also result in no change in the performance.

Not to my knowledge. I know the GT has it and the ecojoke of couse, but as far as I know the V6 does not use an adaptive tune.

Correction on that last. It does use an adaptive tune up to the timing advance. Probably worth a few extra hp but not much. I'll try a tank full and let you know if it makes a noticeable difference.

I honestly would probably not notice if there was a performance bump or not from using my usual 87 octane to 93.

when I'm feeling like i want to drive and have a little bit of fun, the car skates around regardless in first and second.... doubt i could really drive any differently where I'd notice the difference...

Would be nice to know for sure though if there was an adaptive tune for the V6. this is the first I'm hearing about it.
