But they look a lot beefier with the lower offset wheels, taller sidewalls and wider fronts.

295 on all four corners is grip city. But will it be able to manage trinitys power? Only time will tell

It's not gonna have the Trinity. I'll post a pic of me eating my shoe if it does. I'm guessing N/A hopped up Coyote (think Boss 302 on steroids) and then eventually blown version of that engine for the GT500, if the GT500 comes back.

Why do you think they used the quad exhaust tips from the Trinity? not arguing, just asking.

I remember when it first came out though, I used to call it the Ford SVT Shelby GT500 Cobra. lol ... since all had a part in it.
We often joke that we own a 2013 Ford Mustang 20th anniversary SVT Cobra Shelby GT500 because it has all of those markings on it somewhere on the car.

Our 2013 has 275s in front & 295s in rear. They don't seem that massive.

Ford & Ford insiders have clearly stated that the Trinity dies with the 2014 GT500. There are a number of posts about this over at mustang6g.

The fronts just seem significantly bigger even thought they arent too far off. Its just the look of the square set-up i guess.

In terms of drag racing? Only marginally if at all, wide tires are great for lateral acceleration but don't contribute all that much to forward thrust. Especially a tire with a short stiff sidewall that doesn't allow for much deflection.

A taller tire would be much more effective in helping it cope with getting that power off the line and to the ground.

Not necessarily drag racing. Utilize the new IRS and put that power down at the top of an apex.

One of the pictures shows the rears are 295s on a 19" wheel.

Sadly please go to the external links that have the pictures hosted. I just got a request to remove them from our site due to unauthorized use (i.e. paparazzi wanting money).

Maybe because Ford liked the quad tip exhaust distinguishing the SVT model versus the standard GT? And maybe they're using the last gen mufflers just for testing?

I think this the most likely scenario. Trinity dies with S197, next SVT is very tweaked (flat crank even?) 5.x Coyote GT350, GT500 will be an Egoboost Coyote.

As for quad exhaust outlets, those are hardly unique or limited to the Trinity motor, unless WRX STis are running Trinity motors. I suspect quad outlets will be a signature design element of SVT Stangs, much like on BMW M cars now.

As for the big meats, I highly suspect that the S550 will be far less the drag-centric unidimensional performance cars that the lively axles s197 was somewhat consigned to being. Even if only the equal of a comparable S197 off the line or down a smooth straight, I suspect the S550s will have a far broader and deeper overall performance capability, certainly outside the narrow, artificial confines of the strip.

Agreed, I don't see much space for it to fit. The coyote looks tight in there.
