How to decode the "build date" on the FordEtis web site
Greetings,
I do not have my new 2016 GT yet. It was a special order and I just got the VIN number. I plugged the VIN into the FordEtis web site and it knew about my car and even had an entry for the "build date". This is what it gave me:
Build Date: 30.11.0002
The car was ordered on December 24th. Can anyone tell me what this build date really means? I guess I am impatient to know when to expect things to happen.
Best regards and thanks,
Irwin Bramson

Well, I guess the build date info does not say anything. So I tried the direct approach. I called Ford customer service, gave them the VIN and they told me that the car would be at the dealer's by March 15th. Sometimes the direct approach is the best way. Thanks for responding. Yes, I did post all over the place and will not do that again.s
I had the exact same Build Date when I checked my VIN. Mine was ordered on Jan. 27th , and my dealer told me that it is tentatively scheduled to be built week of 22/02/16 with delivery around mid March if all goes well .
Hi John,
That is good news since it is consistent with what they told me. I have not owned a Mustang since my 1989 GT. It was a totally different car. This one has almost twice the horsepower and tons of features. I am pretty excited about being able to finally get behind the wheel.

So, the date you posted above is the placeholder that all Ford vehicles get before their build date is executed. Your dealer can log into their ordering system and get a more specific build date, once it's been scheduled. The date in ETIS won't change until your car is actually built.
I ordered on 27-AUG-2015, received my VIN on 11-SEP-2015, with a scheduled build date of the week off 21-SEP-2015. The car was build on 24-SEP-2015, shipped about a week later, and delivered on 9-OCT-2015, as it was delayed in shipment because of fallout from Hurricane Joaquin. I took deliver on 11-OCT-2015 (Veteran's Day).
She already has 5500 miles!
