I still prefer the S197 (as a Mustang), but the new 15-16 models are definitely beauties in their own right (as a car in general).
I feel the S197 better captures the Mustang spirit, but the S550 is gorgeous. It just doesn't look as much like a Mustang "should" (in my own opinion) as the S197 does.
And I'd gladly trade powertrains any day

I like it but who cares what I or anyone else thinks? You think I care what others think about my '07?? Not me, I really like it and that's all that matters. You seem to be putting too much emphasis on what others think is cool according to this thread and your other thread about trannys (autos and manuals). Are you thinking of getting this Mustang?? If you like it, get it! I'd hate to see you make a mistake in a major purchase worrying about others opinions.

I was once an S550 hater... they grew on me mainly because of the interior. Then seeing one in person you notice every little curve and wow does it really speak to you. I don't think an S197 vs an S550 is better or worse. It is just it's own. I have owned both and I love both!

I went from a '14 v6 to a '15 GT......I know the engine is a huge difference, but I love the look as well. The looks are all preference! I had driven a '14 GT as well, and I have to say, the chasis is so much more fun on my '15.

Although the S550 has grown on me during the past 2 years, I honestly cannot say it has a stronger appeal to me over the S197.. If I were able to add another Mustang to my stable, I would buy a 16 GT or GT350.. But if it came down to having to part with my current 06 GT just in order to own one ? Then I respectfully would have to decline..
My reason is this.. When the S197 was first introduced in 2003 as a concept car, I was totally blown away by it's 1st generation retro styling which still has the same impact and appeal towards me as it did over 11 years ago..
