2015 Platform

Anyone can bring the Fox platform into the argument, however myself and others would agree...that was SO LONG in the tooth, while it DID serve its purpose, it should never have gone on that long.
While I agree the current platform is pretty **** awesome, by the time the new car is shown, it'll have been at least 10 years old. You really want to bring that into the next 10 years? Its not like it will be a platform change within that timeframe. You'll get looks, but the underpinnings will be around for at least the next model and possible the one after that.
The car can't just be 'good enough'.
You KNOW the next Camaro is going to address any platform issues it had with its current platform. It was a placeholder until a more appropriate platform was available.
Just sayin'

The Lincoln LS was nothing more then a Jaguar platform that Ford never made any money off.
Lincolns have been nothing but rebadged Ford products...well forever:
Lets see:
Town Car=Crown Vic
80-90s Continental=Taurus
Navigator=Expedition
Mark VII= Fox platform shared with the Mustang and Thunderbird
Mark VIII= MN12 platform shared with the Thunderbird

Just look at other cars on the road...I believe the Camry hasn't changed platforms in 20 years or so and they keep improving it. The current Focus is riding on a modified C2 platform that came out nearly 10 years ago. The new Fusion is just an improved EUCD platform that came out about 6-7 years ago.
The Fox platform was ok for the time frame it was designed, but it couldn't hold a candle to more modern platforms that started emerging in the 1990s...Heck the F-body was around since the late 1960s till 1995 or so when they finally died.

Having driven many 99-10 Town Cars and quite a few Crown Vics / Grand Marquis, I can tell you that the TC is definitely not just a rebadged Crown Vic ... the CV rides like a truck compared to the plush TC ...

If a new platform really is the right answer then I'm afraid the car may continue its slide into a grey haired demographic. One of the main reasons I thought a 'continued s197' chassis over a brand new platform/adaption was to keep the car within a certain price range. Guess that's the old Ford, but time will tell.

Whilst I expect the price of entry for S550 will be greater than for the S197, I wouldn't expect it to be much more than the usual year on year price rises. The cost of development will be split over the lifetime of the car. Plus, if the rumoured Lincoln spin-off comes to fruition, this means greater economies of scale, something S197 didn't enjoy.

Thats all in the suspension set up/calibration...not the platform.

Actually the F-body cars have seen quite a bit of evolution, each generation F-body has very little in common with its prior iteration. The 67-69 cars for example have very little in common with the 70-81 cars. The 82-92 cars were completely different and the 93-02 cars shared even less between them and the prior generation than the 1st and 2nd gen cars.
