2015 Photoshop/Rendering Thread
Lots of good point on this rendering. I did read in a comment from FORD that Mustang design elements were to be part of the design and one element they mentioned as important to Mustang DNA was ....... Wait for it......
The 1/4 Window. So if the Keep the Dorito window and the MUSTANG windshield stance the Green house might look very much the same.

Just playing devil's advocate here, as I have an SN95 so I don't really care if they change the 1/4 window shape - I'm not hung up on the retro styling. I do like it, and almost bought a 2010/11, but it isn't make or break it for me. I'd buy a new Mustang no matter what it looks like.
There appear to be contradicting details about the "dorito" window. I'm pretty sure TN posted a while back that Ford finally decided to abandon it for '15.
I like it because it's unique in today's market. That being said, it does hark back to the 65-68MYs (Shelbys in particular) and if we're abandoning the retro look, there's no point referrencing those classics anymore.

I don't really care for the dorito window as it is useless to see out of and adds weight and weakens the B and C pillars so more weight has to be added. Adding a side window immediately behind the door window works better from a visibility stand point but either weakens the B pillar or does away with it altogether both mean weight has to be added back to make up for that. Many of us me included have covered the dorito window and so it can be done without. Doing this makes the B pillar stronger the the C pillar stronger and the whole section lighter.
I do prefer looking out of the SN95, especially the 94-98 or Mach/Bullitt glass. It also looks cleaner. But yes, then you have to strengthen other areas to make up for the thinner B-pillar.
I was not entirely clear. I read "1/4 window" what I should have followed with is " If that means the Diroto Window Than........." They may just mean a small window behind the main side window.
Try 65-68 fastbacks, not just Shelbies. I'd argue the Mustang II and Fox cars also had a form of the "Dorito window" as well, being that their 1/4 windows were triangle shaped.

Technically many Mustangs had triangular quarter windows but I think we're talking about two different things.

Shelby replaced the vents with windows for that reason. If I am not mistaken.
Can anyone confirm?
Man I swear I've seen plenty of 65-68 fastbacks with windows at the various shows I've been to. Maybe they all had aftermarket/Shelby kits. Either way, yes I know the "dorito window" references the window that is separated from the front side window, but I was trying to make the argument that we could consider the the triangular 1/4 window an iconic Mustang feature...

I am looking through all of this and they all still seem to be retro looking.. From what I read its a totally new design from the bottom up. The same as it did from Fox to SN-95 or better still New edge to S197. I think the design queues they would keep as I read would be true to Mustang. So look at what makes a car a Mustang. Tri-lights, Pony or GT emblems and aggressive looks. Other than that I think the guesses are missing the mark since it will not be a S197 so why is all these pics still have the S197 Front, sides and Opera windows??

Exactly hence why I bought a 2013.. If the 2015 is leaps and bounds from what we can comprehend I make do it in 2016 <-never buy a 1st year production car even if it is a Mustangs. There were some bugs the 05 had that the 06's did not (Speaking of the start of the S197)

Not different enough for me to want to trade my 05 or park it next it, unless it had 450hp stock from the factory.

I think the biggest problem with this design is the HIP. from the B-pillar forward it looks rather progressive but that hip looks to much like the 2010 -2013.
Also, I think once again it is where the 2013 refresh should have gone instead of putting that big shnozz on it. If the 2013 looked like this , It would have set up a design progression that they could have used to really move forward. Instead, as much as I don't really like it that much, they made the car MORE retro before going for a full change. Makes no sense to me.
