After driving multiple SRA and IRS equipped cars through the terribly paved areas I live in, I can safely say that most people will be very appreciative of the fact that when an IRS equipped car's right wheel dips into a pothole, the whole rear of the car isn't bucked around.
It doesn't even matter if you don't care about comfort, its about stability. When the whole car is bouncing around because the wheels cannot act independently of one another even things like driver input are altered. You can not give as precise of steering or throttle input when you are being tossed around inside the car. Combined with the various directions of force being applied on the car itself and the possibility of losing traction when the car is jarred so hard the wheel comes off the ground, the situation can escalate very quickly.
Some of us buy mustangs for a completely different than most in this thread. You guys want a refined, state of the art European type sports car for $35k. In other words, no damm fun. I want a badass scary thrill ride. I want too much power for the rear end to ever hold straight. Straight American muscle growl, pin me to the seat and blast those rear tires on command. The mustang has NEVER been refined. Learn how to drive or buy German.
If you don't get it, you shouldn't own one.
End of rant.

I personally have never met a Mustang that was a badass scary thrill ride. They've always been controlable to me but Arin is dead on with his assessment. If you want badass scary get a last gen viper and you will be driving home like your pants were on fire. That car will bit and bite hard if you aren't careful. I drove one and tht thing would get tail happy instantly.
But point taken Al. Some like it shaken not stirred. I doubt the IRS will water down the car if that's what you fear. Just my .02

You come off like a complete and utter jerk to everyone who doesn't share YOUR definition of what a Mustang SHOULD be.
Most Mustangs are V6 automatics sold to people who just want a decent looking car to drive to work and back. And selling all those is what allows Ford the economies of scale to make the GT, Boss, GT500. Let's not pretend like we're selling top fuel dragsters here.

Actually it was a bit of an exaggeration to get a point across. If they sissy up the next mustang then they sissy it up. It will probably handle better and be more boring. Nothing a supercharger can't fix.
Install a set of bald, bias-ply 185/90-14 Sears Mileage Masters and your handling excellence problems will be quickly and cheaply solved. Add some blown out shocks if you wish to dial the thrills up to 11.

At VIR they certainly were fun but elsewhere those drag radials killed it in short order.
Dont fool yourself, when the **** hits the fan, even an IRS won't be that much help - IRS or SRA, experience is what will be the deciding factor.

If you know you want that motor, get a 13 or 14 gt500 now imo
Same here, somebody somewhere posted up a good reason for keeping the 5.8 S/C - its very linear response goes well with the tall gearing favored by the current GT500 and would work well in a similar scenario going forward.
IMO another plus to the supercharged powerplant is packaging and heat management although the penalty is about 100 or so HP to drive it

How about if Ford keeps the SRA on the base models and IRS on track-pack models? They could make IRS an option package. Just need to figure out how to make the frame mounting areas interchangable between the 2.
If they went with the IRS for all cars, it'd be nice if they offered the SRA as a "drag-pack" option. Complete w/ manual windows, AC delete and option for radio delete.
