Just hope they have an irs delete like they have spoiler delete. The guys that drag race Im sure would rather not have to by upgraded axles right away. All this talk about irs doesnt make much sense since the stick axle seems to be able to hold its own on a road course against irs equipped cars.

Well Mustang will need it if they go global and want to be considered a legitimate contender by folks other than the niche crowd outside the US now, it doesn't matter how well the SRA performs its just seen as completely inferior and outdated and thats before the gross exagerations start like; A) anything more than a short stint in a live axle car will lead to permanent spinal injury (somebody actually said that - true story) and live axle cars are incapable of traversing a wet turn with a mid-corner bump with even the slightest amount of power applied (why are there never entry and exiting bumps ??????)

Oh and dont count to much on there being an IRS/SRA option, to engineer a capable suspension in either case while offering both would at the very least suck up interior and trunk space like crazy and on a car Ford seems to be shrinking (if the scuttlebutt is true) thats a non-starter. If Ford decides to go the 99-04 Cobra route then the IRS will suffer for the SRA, and dont let Terminator guys fool you, that it worked better than the regular 4-link in the Mustang at the time is like saying the one D+ in a class full of F- amounts to a gifted student.

By the way, a 1999-2004 Mustang wasn't really all that retro and still sold better than 2005-2009.
Yeah, but that was a different market to say the least, and discounts on Mustang were thick to be kind. For example, by that criteria Mustang styling cues on a Focus-based coupe would kill because the Mustang II followed that same basic principle and sold like mad for several years.

The coupe market continues to shrink for whatever reason, and the cold hard truth is that companies who want to play in it and succeed are going to have to up their game well beyond anything Ford or GM offered in the later 90's or the early part of this century.

I was in the chatroom during the episode tonight, too. I had asked a further question about the lack of spyshots leading up to the reveal less than a month away, however it was not relayed on air.

So who is this guy? Does he have any real inside info/insight or just conjecture?

Frankly, both seem pretty smug in their attitude toward the "Mustang faithful". Additionally, it seems pretty unlikely, but it'd be absurd if Ford abandons the long hood/short deck profile for the Mustang. That's one aspect Mustangs of all generations share.

And no, I won't "get over myself" (nor will I expect "9 galloping ponies")...

John McElroy is about the most plugged-in of today's auto journalists, and Pete Delorenzo used to work for GM. They both see things, like the new Fusion and Lincons for example, way ahead of time. That said, they're going off educated guesses and what they've been told by the decision-makers, nobody outside Ford's HQ and design centers has actually seen it yet.

Yeah, I should clarify that I meant Delorenzo. McElroy I'm familiar with.

For MY 2013, Ford needs to refresh some exterior colors, I think. I went to the Build and Price site, b'cause my wife wanted to see a yellow mustang. Alas, it looks like yellow blaze is gone too.

So, now, there are two greys ( Ingot Silver and Sterling Grey), two reds, two blues, and there were (almost) two blacks (since Lava red was so close to black), and white.

What about yellow, non metallic, say, like a 1972 Z28 yellow. Green, too, please, like dark highland green.

I agree. To be such a sporty car, the Mustang has a pretty boring color selection. I'd like to see way more variety/choices in the future...

Well, clearly the EVOS takes a number of cues from the Ford Shelby GR-1, so hopefully his statement wasn't meant to be quite so literal and the car looks just as much, if not more so, like the GR-1 than it does the EVOS. I hope he just meant it'd have a fastback profile and prominent, flared haunches like McElroy suggested.

I think the Evos is the template for the nextgen stang. It is a beauty and a nice but subtle change. I can't wait, it's killing me.

The first Evos design based Ford serial car gets on stage in about 3 1/2 month, Mays said recently.

Irs? The beauty of the gt500 now is you only have to upgrade the blower and the drive shaft and you can push the car over 1000hp!! You will have to upgrade the rear too to reach these numbers in an IRS? And the car handles as good as an M3 without the IRS!!!!! If adding IRS can make it compete with the vett then go for it otherwise!?&&?? I'll have to just wait and see how this unfolds.

Take it for what it's worth, guys, but a gentleman over on another forum claims to have seen the 2015 Mustang because he works for a parts manufacturer that supplies components for the current Mustang as well as the next-generation car. He's described the car as part "new edge" SN-95, part Aston Martin DBS and part Nissan 370Z. He also claims the 2015 Mustang will go "up market" to compete with the likes of Audi, BMW, etc.

http://www.stangtv.com/news/2015-mus...tly-up-market/

Here's a direct link to the forum. His name is MMVEC.
