It would be good for the dealers. They would trash the GT500, say the Cobra was always better, and ask for $5K over.

I was hoping that with the Shelby name gone, the pricing point would not change. Would be nice if they lowered the price since they do not have to pay Shelby to use the name but we all know they will not lower the price on a future model.

I'm sure that the ever popular ADM will still be there. The key is to find a dealer or salesperson that's not out to make you the mayor of wallet-rape city.

Once a vehicle in demand reaches a level of pricing it never comes down. A Cobra return would be highlighted by the Cobra Rs and Terminators, thus cashing in on the nostalgia Ford has so successful exploited.

Ford would use the same logic as the elimination of the GGT and raise the price.

There's not much room for an SVT model to come down in price with the current pricepoint of the GT and the (supposed) pricepoint of the Boss...

If it was up me, a bored/stroked version of the 5.0L Coyote, 5.2L or something the like, with revised ECM programing that would deliver an additional 40-60 horses N/A, with the track pack as standard equipment. Other options upon request.

That would be close to a Boss. I guarantee the new "Cobra" will be FI.

The Cobra will have to be FI, either TT or S/C, with the Boss coming.

I think the Cobra/GT500 has established itself as a FI vehicle....part of its MO now.
Even if it was only 2 MY's under the Cobra name.

Agreed. I think that a NA Cobra will be looked at as a let down.

Ok then, call that one the Boss. A supercharged version of that same theoretical 5.2L, close to 600hp

I just hope what whatever the HP number is, it can be put down. 600hp and no traction could be a very bad thing in the wrong hands. However, if it can get traction there will be many high end cars running for their lives. It will be hard to justify spending thousnds more then a Cobra for less performance.

Agreed, especially since the Cobra will be a 4-seater and you wont find another 4-seater with that kind of performance at that pricepoint.

Most probably Ford will put an output a little higher than the current (by then) GT 500. It it'll be pushing, say, 550 by that time, 560 or something may be the most close. Traction wise, TC would be standard equipment I suppose, with three settings at least, and the all important OFF mode

i hope so. werent the Cobra (Termi) and Lightning both around $35k? im thinking if the current Raptor is around $45k (i think) then maybe the Cobra would be around there.

[QUOTE=yeahyouknwit;5895736]The more I think about it, its seems like everyhting is perfectly set up for the return of the Cobra. 2013 would be the 20th anaversary and Shelby is done in 2012.

I agree. Cobra > Shelby

I would love to see the return of the Cobra but does anyone know the details of the Shelby/Ford agreement? My thinking is that there is no reason Shelby would notrenew it and IF the GT500 is selling at a good level in Ford's eyes, why wouldn't they also renew. Just thinking out loud, I don't know how the Shelby sales have been.
