Windshield washer problem
Windshield washer problem
Hi all,
I didn't think this was a warranty issue and did not know where to post it, since I took care of it myself.
My 2014 windshield washer stopped working, I could hear the motor run, but nothing came out of either nozzle. Rather then try poking something in the squirter, (and thinking I would mess up the spray pattern) I thought I would used compressed air.
Do not use compressed air, ask me how I know, I popped off at least one hose, as they are just pushed in.
The washer nozzles snap into the hood and the hose is hidden inside the hood. The nozzles are plastic and I was afraid of breaking them or what ever holds them in place, trying to remove them.
To get the nozzles out of the hood, I carefully pried from the squirter side with the hood shut and it popped right out. The nozzle sort of hinges at the other end and has a clip on the side the fluid comes out of. The hose just pushes back on, no big deal
Use care not to scratch the paint, maybe put some tape around the screwdriver and hood.
On another thread in this forum, someone had a problem using "bug" formula solution (living in the south) and having the screen clog in the tank from the solution, sort of a white gunk. There was even a photo.
To remove the pump check this, the front apron under the car must come out, with about a dozen small screws. After that there are two bolts and one nut to drop the tank, as well as an electrical connector and a hose that go to the pump. The pump snaps into the tank and has a grommet at the bottom to seal it, and it can slide up and down after it is in place. I would have thought there would be a locking ring. Mine was up, which could have happened when I was taking it out.
The filter sock is on the end of the pump and is much smaller then I expected. Mine was clean but I thought that was the issue and ended up doing this first.
Before jumping into this, I had looked around on the web and couldn't find anything on this, I hope this helps someone out.
Best of luck.
