Front hood paint issues.
It isn't that easy to tell bad paint tho, a supplier could of messed up during mixing, the painter may of mixed to much thinner or base in, as well as other reasons. And I do agree Ford should hold their values better but I guarantee other companies wouldn't do any free painting after the warranty was run out, Ford would of fixed it if caught during the warranty period but since its out why would they? That's money out of their pocket and everyone knows people are greedy with money. It's how the world works and it sucks but still.

I haven't personally seen it, I have a ford, friends have fords and such but I haven't seen someone with paint peeling, maybe the location of where people live. Road salt? Or rust? Idk but it isn't right to make a company look bad because they won't do a free paint job even if they should. Now no one call bias, I hate ford and most everything aside from their mustang but I still don't believe in bashing a company... Except Chevy's camaro, kiddin.

Example: you work at a chair factory and you glue in 3 legs because you were lazy during prep time..if you get my point. The hoods were not prepped right. All it would take is a little more care and pride put into painting and sealing the hoods.
I've been waving the Ford flag for 15 years with 4 Stangs under my belt. When the paint issue happened to me last month, I wasn't only discounted, I was furious. Angry as you call it is not even close!
"Furious" as to how the problem is being referred to and dismissed.
Similar to your mentality in your earlier posts. No offense.
Long story short: 40k plus cars peeling in the first years or so is meriting anger.
Also, I would be careful not to dismiss people's emotions like being angry about it. That's not fair to us and very close minded.
I'll be here when yours starts to peel...it will.
Well, got mine back today for the second time and it's all fixed for now and I truly hope the fix lasts because I love my car. I had a buddy of mine say maybe it's bad paint as well but if that were so it would be happening all over the car and especially on top of the hood but this is only occurring underneath the hoods so it's not the paint. I can understand the anger by some, my 2014 is just over a month old and I'm getting this fixed but I'm not angry because I've owned many fords and plenty of other models and they've all had their issues whether large or small. I had a 2007 accord in 2007 and they had problems with the brakes, my pads were down to almost nothing before 20.000 miles and I got nothing from honda, it was all on me to fix their problem and obviously the car was still under warranty. Not to go on and on but plenty of vehicles have problems, it's nothing new. Update: What about this airbag shrapnel that's happening now, wild and scary.
Ah okay, was thinking people were just complaining by the way the chat looked, made me think ice salt was to blame, only thing I've seen bubble paint aside from rust but then again I live in FL. So my bad. As for the paint issue that's true about the prepping but after warranty they won't do anything. Id go the carbon fiber route tho

65stang408stroker this is your lucky day. I will sell you my 2010 well maintained, garage kept, low mileage, Premium Convertible at a great price. Don't worry about paying retail, no not for you, you're special. I have a deal, just give me Kelly Blue Book's lowest trade-in value. I think it's called poor. No haggling over good or average, we can just go with the poor evaluation. I'll even use whatever zip code gives the lowest price. Remember this isn't RETAIL or PRIVATE PARTY value, for you; lowest TRADE-IN value is all I'm asking.
You live in Florida? Great! I need a vacation. I will personally deliver it to your driveway to make the exchange. Don't worry about the bubbling paint. I was still under warranty, so it must have been fixed by Ford.
If you are still worried about the paint, I think you are right, a good washing to remove the salt that magically appeared in my garage during the winter should take care of it. I promise, if not just go the carbon fiber route. Or better yet, take it to your nearest Ford dealership.
It's not about salt in the winter. My car sat inside a garage all last winter and was not driven in any salt. My fiancee's 07GT also does not get driven in the winter and has the bubbling paint under the hood.

Our 2012 convertible has hood bubbling. The car has 10,000 km's on it. We don't drive it in winter. It was bought May 2011 and the dealer took pictures and sent to Ford.
GUESS WHAT BULL$HIT FORD SAID ... "Sorry the vehicle is out of warranty"
I don't care what they say. A bubble in metal is "corrosion" and should fall under the corrosion warranty.
FORD is full of $hit. I hope the class action law suit against them hits them hard.
IMAGINE WHAT THAT NEW ALUMINUM F150 IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE IN 1-2 YEARS FROM NOW...

pasting some 2015 F150 pics, had put this in the 05-09 aluminum hood bubbling thread too... thoughts?
to me the last pic (behind right rear tire) coulda been done better by a 2 year old...sad
this IS the only one Ive looked at, perhaps it is a fluke, and the next half million down the line the next few years will be just perfection...you never know.
added a pic of the $15k Hyundai hood prep just to compare a cheap alabama built car compared to the >$30K latest and greatest ford pickup... things that make you go hmm...
finally got to see a 2015 F150- as one might expect from me after suffering three mustang aluminum hood paint failures, I'm unimpressed- and not surprised...
what do you guys think of these pics? anything look familiar to the areas under your mustang hoods where corrosion initiated?
on the flipside, perhaps the little flaws are nothing, and the fact opposite sides didnt have them just means someone did 'too good' on the other sides.
maybe.
sorry but I see bad things coming 2~3 yrs down the road with these trucks. in my opinion, this is complete **** quality control compared to some other brands out there. put this on aluminum- I will be staying far, far away from the aluminum truck. it looks great, ought to be a great vehicle- but in my opinion the panel hem/sealing/paint on the underbody areas where corrosion always starts is simply pathetic. Perhaps Ford should contract Hyundai to put panels together for them.

Yikes, that is so sad to see on a new F150. You would think ford would change up the process by now. It has to be costing them a nice chunk of change to paint these hoods and body panels.
On a side note, I popped the hood on the mustang today and the paint is once again starting to bubble up where it did before. The bubble has gotten bigger since about a week ago. Pathetic...this will be the 3rd hood repaint!

I'm not sure if they are giving me a 2 year warranty on the paint job. It's an outside collision center that is doing the painting. Although pictures had to be taken both times and sent to Ford before I could get the hood painted.
half joking with somebody touting 'military grade' materials for the new F150, had to remind him just about everything on earth has a military spec- even this:

for anyone interested, 2015 auto show aluminum/paint concerns- starts at post 184... the mustangs hoods were better(only one had bubbling this year) but one also had a fender bubbling, and the two verts had the ugliest 'sealant' under the trunklids ive ever seen... lots of f150 issues too, most interesting ones to me were a crack in a inner aluminum door stamping, and a piece of tape painted to the door on another...
did ask specifically about corrosion warranty on the F150, 5 yrs(perforation only) and as far as paint bubbling off like a mustang hood, 3/36 is it... anyone still under warranty needs to go over their hood seams very closely, and any issues need documented under warranty- even if denied, if pics of suspected flaws were documented under warranty and denied, later to blossom as they all do, they will be on the hook somewhat. same for anyone looking at a 15 mustang/truck... be sure to look the hems over with a fine tooth comb before 3/36 is up, get any issues photographed/documented at dealer. if enough folks ***** about these problems, it will force ford to make a better product- I know they can.
