pull it before 3/36 runs out for sure!!!

I'm gonna spray black plastidip on the hidden side of the insulation perimeter, should cushion it from chafing thru the paint- will test a piece for flammability first...
That looks bad. I wonder if my fiancee's 07 GT's hood looks like that. Her car is that same color. These paint issues seem out of control.

I have an appt scheduled for tomorrow for the paint bubbling (TSB 06-25-15) and lower control arm noise (TSB 12-08-24). I hope this isn't a bad sign.

The appt. didn't happen today. The dealership called me and said that there wouldn't be enough time to work on my car with an appt. that late in the day so they rescheduled me for first thing Monday morning. Now I'm scheduled for 8:30 Monday morning.

Hi Deysha. Please let me know you've at least read this. I have a 2009 Mustang with basically the same problem as some of the others here. The problem is when the problem was first identified in 2011 (still under the original 3/36 warranty) I was told that I couldn't claim a replacement hood and it had to be repaired FIRST. Now that the corrosion has reoccurred, I'm out of of the 3/36 warrant and into my extended warranty, which doesn't cover the problem. I had to wait after the first repair and now I'm not covered, BUT it was identified during the original warranty and I've seen several other Mustangs (same model as mine) with the same problem. Do I have a chance in getting my hood replaced? VIN - 1ZVHT80N595141373. Thank you. Dan

TRK516,

You can send a PM (private message) directly to FORD SERVICE. Click on FORD SERVICE and select send PM. Good luck with your hood issue. Please give us updates on how it went, there are many Mustang owners with the same circumstance as you.

Hi TRK516,

Since your vehicle is out of the new-vehicle limited warranty, and has no recalls, or Customer Satisfaction Programs, I recommend bringing it in to your dealer and speaking to your service manager about this concern. He is in the best position to ensure a proper diagnosis, and will be able to provide available options and/or coverage for any work needed.

Also, remember most paid repairs done at a Ford Dealer come with a 24 months/unlimited miles warranty. You can schedule an appointment online here.

A bubbling paint problem was identified while my 11 GT was still under the 3/36, the dealer took pictures and agreed for a local body shop to paint it. I didn't have it completed before I stored te car. The next spring I was told they told me they wouldn't honor the repair order as the time limit was now up. Should they have honored the original claim?

Deysha,
I got both of my lower control arms replaced today. The lady took pictures of the bubbling and sent them in to Ford and it was approved in less than ten minutes. The body shop doesn't have an opening until next Monday so it'll be getting fixed then. Thank you for willing to help on this matter though. Looks like I have a pretty good dealership so far.

If the documented failure occurred during the warranty period, it should be covered. That's standard warranty law...

Speedwagon,
You must be one of the lucky ones. Mine has just over 2000 miles on it and is a month old yesterday. I've done alot of highway traveling this month but the miles should get back to normal now.

Where on your car are you showing the most paint that is bubbling?

my 2009 has 4.9 miles on it, yeah, 6 yrs old but never even test driven, sits in the garage under a shelby cover, washed it the day it was flatbedded from Michigan, and once 2-3 yrs ago, just because there were cobwebs all over underneath it...other than that it has never ever been wet, yet last month the little bubbles that it came new with took off and started lifting paint under the hood... unless you live in a desert dry area and it never sees any moisture or humidity, most of these hoods were doomed the day they were crimped together.

did you see the auto show pics from 2013 and 2014? brand new cars with bad underhood prep/paint... its really pathetic that after ten years of S197s and at least 4 hood stamping changes, they have still not addressed the issue. its not just mustangs either- just google ford aluminum hoods.

Speedwagon,
I have one large bubble at the front and then a lot of little one down the drivers side of the hood.
