You should have removed that ABS sensor before pushing in the axles to remove the C clips. Is that sensor bent or making contact with the toner ring? The axle flange would have had to push against that sensor in order to get them in far enough to remove the C clips.

I’m pretty sure it’s hitting the toner ring because I have no movement when trying to spin the axle, you think if I take the abs sensor off right now it will make it work

Yes, remove the ABS sensors and see if it frees up. If it does then you're going to need to replace the ABS sensors as they likely bent when the axle was pushed in to remove the C clips

WIthout the ABS sensors it's going to trip a CEL and the ABS system will not function. As far as the axle itself functioning, it should be fine at that point but if you've damaged the ABS sensors then you're going to have to replace them. The same part number fits both sides, I don't know what current pricing is on those sensors.

Can you remove the C clips? If so then they are fully inward. Something is causing a bind. Did you do anything with the ring and pinion as far as movement or prying on anything without the pinion shaft in place that keeps the axles from moving inboard? I would suggest removing the C clips and axles and then reinstall one axle, make sure it is not locked up and then do the 2nd. It's really hard to diagnose what is going on from a distance but you'll need to back up and try again watching what is going on. Maybe KC has a parts explosion to help you see how everthing is laid out.

Carrier?? Did you have the carrier out?

I was referring to just removing the axles but if you've had the carrier out then this could snowball rapidly

No before I had everything inside with the axles and it wouldn’t turn in just taking the carrier out so I can see if anything’s messed up

That’s about as far as I can get the right rear axle and the left axle barely too I have to force the c clip on the left jjst so it can go in but even then no spinning

Do you have any experience with taking apart rear differentials? There are specific shims on each side.

OK, you just need to back step what you did and at each point you reassemble you need to test and make sure there is no bind. Something somewhere in there is binding...if you check with each step you should find it fairly easily.

I Found This Read Carefully. Not Sure if This is Same Style Torsen!

I believe You Have Type Two Which is What I Am Seeing For Track Pak Cars.

Information is Just So Sketchy and Varies! I Tried to Zero In as Best I Could.

Seems Like The Side Gears are Popping Out and Have To Be Deflected One Side To The Other During Axle Install.

Installation Instructions for Torsen® Differential 8.8” Solid Axle Rear Suspension Applications – Ford Mustang, Crown Victoria, Ranger, F-150, and Explorer NOTE Take care to keep right and left bearing cups, shims, and bearing journal caps separated! 1. Install ring gear on Torsen differential. Torque bolts as specified in the Ford Service Manual. 2. Install two new journal bearings on Torsen differential. 3. Mount differential assembly into axle by following the procedure given in the Ford Service Manual.

4. Remove retaining pin holding the thrust block from the Torsen differential and slide the thrust block from the differential.

5. Insert the left axle shaft as far as possible. Place C-clip axle retainer into groove in the end of the shaft. Do this by sliding the two center washers up tight against the right hand side gear, putting the C-clip in place and pulling the axle shaft back out until it stops (approximately ½ inch).

6. Slide the center washers to the left and repeat the previous step for the right hand C-clip.

7. Slide both center washers to respective sides.

8. Holding the center washers apart, insert the thrust block between the washers.

9. Reinstall the thrust block retaining pin and torque to 25 ft/lbs.

10.Reattach axle cover and fill carrier. Consult owner’s manual for fluid and capacity. For questions concerning the installation of the Torsen differential, call (585) 464-5000. Torsen® is a registered trademark of JTEKT Torsen North America, Inc
