It only works over USB per the manual. I wish it played over bluetooth. I had the same issue when I got my car new.

Hi, ckaven -

12GTCS is right, to use AppLink with the iPhone, it must be paired and connected to SYNC via Bluetooth AND plugged into the USB port.

Thanks, 12GTCS!

For best performance, we recommend making your device the primary phone. In order to use this feature, you must have already downloaded the application you'd like to use to your phone. I've provided usage instructions below, let me know if you have any questions.

  1. Plug in your iPhone to the USB port.
  2. Start your SYNC AppLink app on your iPhone. (For AppLink to work, the app must be in the foreground. Do not start and then background the application.)
  3. Lock your iPhone using the lock button on the top of the screen.
  4. Browse to the Mobile Apps menu in SYNC or press the voice button and say, "MOBILE APPS."
  5. Select the application or say its name, such as, "PANDORA."
Jaclyn

I had the same issue. I had to say Bluetooth audio then mobile apps then pandora. You also need to wait till Sync tell you it is connected to your phone to start the process. I was beating my head against the wall till i figured it out. and i dont have USB attached for it to work it is all wireless.
