I just did this and it didn't help. I covered the metal membrane on the door with dynamat and it didn't help at all. Did you cover the plastic door panel itself or the metal door panel?

 

furthermore, I realized that the back speakers are weak, they can't handle bass. Apparently they are making a "zzzzz" sound when a song with strong bass is played. The dynamat in the door didn't help the rattle in the door, and the back speakers are making the "zzz" noise. Anyone have any suggestions what I should do to address these two issues?

 

I have 2 Mustangs as well ( 2010 and 2013 ). The 2010 still has teh buzzing sound coming out of the speaker with higher bass and 2013 with the Shaker 500 also has the problem.

Both Mustangs had problem with the fuel door sticking which needed to be adjusted by the dealership.

2010 Mustang also has had problem with the driver seat feel like moving when you go over any bump at 35 plus miles an hour speed. The dealership can not fix this problem. They have changed the mounting rack, tightened it down 3 times, still the same problem.

About to take the 2013 in to the dealership to have it looked at.

 

Yep I have the same issue on passenger side. Sounds like a blown speaker or a loose panel. I have no idea but Ford for sure will be fixing it. I cant listen to anything with bass without it going crazy.

Won't fix it. It's not a damaged speaker, it's a design flaw. You learn to live with it. Ford won't fix it.

 

I installed pioneer front speakers in my 2011 GT some time ago

and I have been very happy with the sound but have been annoyed by a 'rattle' coming from the stock door woofer. This has been getting gradually worse and was so bad I thought the woofer in the drivers door was broken.

So angrily I decided it had to be checked. Taking the door trim off I inspected the speakers and woofers and found them all to be intact. Running the shaker with the door trim off no discernible rattle. Increasing to full volume I noticed the 'sound duct' running along the length of the lower door to the woofer was rattling and was producing the sound which had made me think the speaker was knackered. In act the whole tube was vibrating and making the door tray vibrate.

I fitted self adhesive pads to the 'tube' so it made contact against the plastic inner door trim (the translucent white stuff). I re-secured the door trim as tightly as I could.

Should have taken pictures but didn't.

I have further refined this by gluing in sections of plastic tubing in the pocket at the front and rear of the pocket to hold the celebration of plastic Ford have used rigid.

No more rattles - phew.

Anyway the long and short is that if you suspect your speakers membranes have broken check first before buying new.

It might just be all that plastic vibrating!

 

Forgot to update this, but I got my car back and the intial rattling is fixed. It no longer sounds like a blown speaker but now the door panel vibrates at certain frequencies. If I pull or push on the door it goes away. I guess I'll just live with it since they'll probably never be able to fix it.

Also got sad news that the scratch in my passenger window will not be repaired under warranty because I didn't bring it up when I picked the car up (I thought it was a smudge and got distracted in all the excitement). They said since the scratch is outside and not a straight line that it's not a manufacture defect. He said sales would meet me in the middle on the cost but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I'm pretty upset

 

Yup my 2014 Has the same issue it just appears to be the small cubby hole at the bottom of the door if you grab the plastic all the rattle goes away. My simple fix will be to just wedge some kind of rubber to prevent It from vibrating and causing the rattle which is very annoying even at lower volumes!

 

I ended up doing the tube that Mykap did but only on the passenger door. I'm still having issues with the window switch panel vibrating. The stuff I used to dampen the sound isn't holding up to the heat so I need to find something else to stuff in there.

 

i had the same problem in my 2011. I found the problem to be the window switch loose in the door panel i just popped the small panel up stuck some paper between the switch and the holder and problem was solved unless you turned the radio all the way up! hope this helps with the fix

 

We picked up a 2014 V-6 Premium convertible last month.

Same problem with the Shaker 500 - front passenger side speaker rattled and sounded like crap on the way home from the dealership.

We're learning to live with it rather than taking it back to the dealer and having the interior trashed by their service goons.

 

I was going to live with it at first. It gets to you, especially when you want to hear your favorite song.

Start with the window switch. I recently added some thin double sided tape to the edging on the back side of the switch and it fixed it.

 

Hey guys I would suggest swapping out your front door speakers and laying down some dynomat while your in there. I had the same rattle execpt on the driver side speaker as soon as I picked up my '14 two weeks ago. I already had a pair of Polk speakers I was planning to install anyway it just made it so I had to install them sooner than I planned Oh, rattle is gone and it sounds 10x better!

Hey Deysha, usually I would agree with you to take your car in if its under warranty. Especially since it doesn't cost you anything but I had my speaker replaced in my '12 and they told me it happens all the time and promptly ordered and installed a new speaker. The problem is Ford has crappy speakers they are installing. After they gave me a new one the problem came back again that's when I decided that I was just gonna get new speakers and sound deadening material and fix the problem my self. Just so happens I decided to get a '14 and had the same problem as soon as I drove off the lot. Luckily I hadn't installed the speakers in the '12.

 

A nice set of Kenwood 3-way speakers(qty-4) will run you $100 on Ebay, add some soundproofing(in my case, RAAMat) in the door when you swap the fronts, and velcro pads on any removeable panel back and around the window switches. Doors come off easily and the vapor shield also. On my 2005 I went very heavy on the butyl and foam RAAMat products in both doors, under the seats and behind the rear speakers(also cake to upgrade) and trunk, made a HUGE improvement in sound(since both cars are verts) and no rattles. Make sure you also get speaker connector adapters(Crutchfield) for aftermarket speakers, the stockers are a joke.
