ABS Module Issue

ABS Module Issue
Has anyone had any issues on their ABS module?
I took my 2010 GT to the dealer this morning and the tech found that "it has a bad valve circuit for the right front in the ABS control module and it needs to be replaced."
My car has 38,000 miles on it and I'm told it is out of the 36,000 mile warranty... they say parts and labor cost $385 before tax. This seems outrageous to me that this module would go out so early in vehicle life... especially 2000 miles out of warranty. Does this seem fair?

I have a 2010 GT with 42,000 miles and just this morning, changing lanes on the highway, I get the "Service AdvanceTrac" warning with ABS and traction warning warning lights.
Took it to the dealer as soon as I could and the diagnostic report was that the electronic ABS control module needed to be replaced. The repair would cost $600.
My car is out of warranty by 6,000 miles and suddenly this costly repair. I asked the service manager about the possibility of a "good faith" warranty repair to at least defray the cost, and he said he would contact Ford and see what he could do. A tough pill to swallow considering how few issues I've had owning the car for 2 years.

FYI...I have intermittently had the same warning light come on and then disappear. Did either of your warning lights remain lit after restarting the car? I also am out of the 3/36 period and saw this at around 50,000 miles (I have 58,000 now).
Doing a search in this and other Mustang forums shows similar threads, but with the diagnosed cause as a bad wheel sensor, as opposed to the ABS module failing.
Deysha, based on the original poster's result from his dealer visit, would there not be some warranty assistance, especially since this system possibly be classified as a safety concern? I also agree that I would not expect this type of failure with something so crucial to braking performance.

Yep, understood. My question was really related to what the original poster's experience was, given his mileage. My case is, of course, different because of the higher mileage on my car.

That was meant to the OP asking if it was fair, and it absolutely is. That's awesome if ford is nice enough to fix it for free. But they don't have to extend a warranty that wasn't paid for.
