2013 5.0 idled weird and died after take off after car wash..

AirAid CAI was installed about 500 miles ago. Got a car wash done and then moved the car to a different part of the driveway. after an hour it was time for me to go to work so i started it up and i noticed it was idling kinda weird, up and down up and down. I didn't see any engine codes poping up or any warning lights.

as i took off, i went about 50 feet and it completely died on me and gave me the tool light. I tried to crank it over and it didn't start, then turned key completely off and cranked again and it started, but rpm was still going up and down a little.

i let it idle for a bit and it started getting better and smoothed out, no more problems since.

do you guys think some water got into the intake during a car wash?

anyone ever had this happen? if a car wash did this, wouldn't rain do the same thing, since the water would be hitting the front grill and going into the Airid box?

here is a video of what i was able to get on the phone.

any suggestions, opinions, advice?

I wouldnt keep turning it on. call the dealer and have them flat bed it in. You could be doing motor damage. I would also remove the cai.

Had this happen in my 07 GT after a cold start. Drive just fine for about 5 or 6 miles and then suddenly died out of nowhere. It had problems turning Orr do I limped it into the parking lot close by and it fired up after another power cycle. Let the car idle for a while longer and haven't had the problem since. the only other times I've had problems is when the throttle body has been getting too much air without the MAF reading correctly because of my ram-air having become separated due to it not being screwed down tightly enough... If it happens again I would be worried but I'm sure someone is going to offer more sound advice than my very novice input.

Thats happened to me before after I washed my CAI filter in my mazda and started it up before it was completely dry. It takes a little while to get the moisture out of the filter when its wet. My guess is thats what happened. But I would make sure not to get it wet next time.

Rest assured that water from the car wash wouldn't do this. It sounds like a vacuum leak. I would check and make sure all vacuum hoses are connected, and with the car running try to listen for a hiss.

I find this happens sometimes when I move the '11 just a short distance like out of the garage and shut it off, then go back and restart it to drive away. Acts like the fuel didn't get fully burnt from the short start to move the car. Always runs good after that and with 14,500 miles, all is well.
