2012 V6 loses power

After driving 80 mph on interstate, and slowing down to 70 mph, engine loses power and wrench light comes on. But motor continues to run. Pulled to side of the road and stopped. Turned off the engine and let it set a couple of minutes. Started the engine, wrench light was off and drove fine afterward. Checked for codes and none was listed. This happens once in a while but even dealer service guys are stumped. Anyone have ideas?

Might be your throttle body going out. The only thing that will normally make the wrench light come on is the Transmission and the throttle body. Transmission and throttle body is normally get the code only while the wrench is lit, I know this from my F150 about not saving the code until the check engine light comes on but if it is shifting normal I would look into a TB.

This can also be caused by a faulty wheel-speed sensor, or a temporary inability to read the wheel speed. I’ve had to clean mine twice on the left front for the same reasons.

It can also happen when a wheel slips a little on a gravel road (especially when turning, or pulling out quickly). Some cars are more sensitive than others.

@Ben2012 is your car a Premium model with AdvanceTrac?

Exactly 100% spot on, Ken! I was traveling with a friend of mine to a car meet in his 2008 Shelby GT500 Super Snake and it died while on the interstate... It would start back up after sitting for 5 min and then die again after attempting to accelerate... Once his car was towed to the nearest Ford dealership, they were able to diagnose that it was indeed the throttle body that went bad and required replacement.
