Darn.

This is what I read in the August 11 issue of 5.0 Mustang and Super Ford:

-Coyote clutch and pressure plate kept vibrating apart at high RPM. They had to rewire the clutch bolts to keep the pressure plate in place during testing. They went from 6 to 9 pressure plate bolts.

( I have a stock flywheel but I have a Tr66060 w/Mcleod twin disc clutch)

-The Boss engines speed overheated and killed the Coyotes idler and belt tensioner bearings. The Boss gained the 6.2 liter truck engine pulleys too because of the addictional energy generated @ the Boss's redline.

These are all things I would need to change to be able to rev over 7300RPM's safely... That's more in labor and parts...

I wont be shifting over 7300rpms since it isn't safe... so I'm not sure if the manifold will do anthing for me. It's onlyabout 15HP over a tuned 5.0. I could get the manifold for $200.

Thanks

Yeah that's a lot of money for all the extra changes for 15HP - at the top end.

Plus maybe suspension to handle the power like that 11 second guy. Plus tires and wheels, plus...

LOL, you're right NOT worth it at all....oh and I'd take a mid range loss!

And not running the oil squirters since they were blocked off by Ford.

There are no other mods I can think of to make my car faster other then a SC, turbo or Nitrous.

This is what I have so far:

Factory 3.73, Stainless Works 1 7/8 LT headers, Catted X,Catbacks, TR6060, MGW Shifter, Mclead C, One piece DS, Steeda LCA, Steeda CAI...
Gonna have to go with 4.30's soon to gain the torque I lost off the trans swap.

Works fine in stock form but turn up the wick and viola a barely tamed lion waiting on that one bad tank of cheap gas, and since like alot of v8 designs #8 is the hottest because of the coolant travel path.... Me personally I wouldn't want to thin out a 11.0 compression on pump gas anyway, even with the electronics that's pushing the envelope IMHO. When I had my Camaro tuned I told them specifically not to make it so imperitive to use 91 because I've been to stations which set off my check engine light in stock form. If I wanted more power I relied on parts not the tune.

From what I've read, that isn't correct and actually the opposite.

just as a precaution, you may wanna look into running meth injection as well to cool the cylinders further. would help with the number 8 problem ALOT..

You know Sam, I love your optimism and drive to keep going despite everything you've been through with a new car already. A lot of people would be btching, giving up, and starting an internet crusade with media and lawyers. Respect for you.

most kits can be universal, you just have to bring it to your tuner to tune for it.

Thanks! I'll look into it.

Doesn't it help now that my pistons are forged? I'm thinking of running my 93 Steeda tune I got about 5 months ago. I don't think they modify the knock sensor.

Your thoughts?

Good ol' Bud's Creek, they also prep the track very well there which lets you really take advantage of that killer DA.

This is also to place where you see the stock 10.99 and faster Z06 runs on the east coast.

Did you ever get a clear explaination of what happened?

Did your tuner modify the knock sensors, if so who was it and what did they do?

What were you doing when you noticed the smoke? Cruising, racing, what gear were you in?

I'm curious to see pictures of the damage inside of the old engine.
