You don't need a nav system on an autocross course.
For real?

I have a question for those of you running this mod. I've tried running my phone and the tablet in my car and it pretty much sucks. If I switch the bluetooth to the ipad, the phone doesn't work. Is there some trick to making this work? It's the only thing keeping me from buying this.

yeah , do like i did, buy a bluetooth adapter dedicated just for the ipad, the blueotooth adapter i bought is a KINIVO BT450 and plugs into the aux in and stays in my glovebox, just plugs into the power port and then plugs into the aux in.

you could make your power port "switched" using a relay so that way you can leave it plugged in all the time and it will then only power on when your car or radio is on.

good point since I am also about to purchase this mod and I need to use my iPad and my iPhone both.
How about this USB Bluetooth adapters, i.e. Kinivo BTD-400, will these work as well?
Furthermore, how many USB ports do we have in a 2014 GT Premium?
Want to attach my iPod also....

I don't think a USB adapter like that would work when plugged into the cars USB port. It seems to be intended for a computer as it requires drivers. I could be wrong, though, and have no experience with it.

I have the KINIVO BT450 that DeeJayTJ mentioned and I like it so far. Although, I've only used it a couple times. I unplug it when I get that car home to avoid any battery drain issues.

I have mine installed and think it is great. The magnets are solid enough that it is not easy to get the mount off with one hand while the iPad is in it.

As long as the iPad is in in the correct orientation it stays in place. There is a lip on the bottom that keeps that side in and the top side has another magnet that attaches in the same place a Smart Cover would.

People that have been in my car have said they thought it was OE. Can't ask for much better than that. I can't see a custom fit piece of this quality being much cheaper to manufacture.

I love this idea and have been watching this thread closely. I almost pulled the trigger. In preparation I bought a Kinovo BTC450 bluetooth adapter and fooled around with a loose iPad mini in the car running the Copilot GPS app which I like because it stores maps on the device (less data xmitted). Actually, it was a borrowed wifi-only iPad but I was only in the garage. My plan would be to get my own iPad mini with cellular data.

The thing that struck me quickly was that battery life on the iPad didn't seem like it would be sufficient for my needs. While I sat there, in a short period of time, it went down several % while just browsing maps on the iPad. I want a solution that could provide GPS on a couple longer trips I have scheduled this year (6-8 hours). I don't think the iPad battery would make it. The inability to charge the iPad while mounted is too much of a downside for me. Is it really true that there is no way to run a charge cable?

If this thing just had a hole drilled in the back to thread a charging cable through to the ipad, I would definitely consider buying one. As it is I'm probably going to have to go with another more permanent solution to replacing the ugly looking radio display in the non nav mustangs.

Anyone do this install with some nice install pics? Maybe some reviews? I'm close to doing this but I'm worried I won't like how it looks after.
